Will the new model frame with lock accept non lock parts to get rid of the lock, or am i looking at a new frame. Been thinking about a Bisley conversion anyway, it's a 4 5/8" convertible in 45 colt / ACP.

I'm NOT ABOUT to post images of such a contraption. Up to this point in time I've had a commendable rapoir with SR&Co. :roll:

When using the new steel XR3 gripframe from the NM mid sized revolvers on an older, non-locking revolver, I see no real issue with replacing the lock with the adapter Flatgate describes. The revolver remains operational as designed, but with the steel, smaller XR3 gripframe. Defeating the lock on a new revolver so factory equipped could be construed as a problem by some, mainly those of the lawyerly persuasion. In deference to Flatgate's good standing with SR&Co, I won't post a picture, but if someone would like a look, send me a PM.

Mine was made to use the NM steel XR3 gripframe on a 327 Single Six conversion. Since the original Single Six was not factory equipped with a lock, the adapter allowed the lock on the newer gripframe to be deleted.
So far I haven't run across any large gripframes with the lock, just the mid-frames. What large frame guns have the lock?

However, you will now see those guns offered both ways, with and w/o lock on the Ruger website. A model with an "L" in the cat. # has the lock; no "L", no lock.

I see no problem sharing this with you since Ruger offers the same guns with and w/o lock now.
The only lawyer issue you could have is if you bypassed the lock on a gun that originally had one and shot yourself because of it; you wouldn't have a chance at a Ruger lawsuit. And just don't allow anyone to shoot your gun with a bypassed lock that might shoot themselves and sue you over it.
I use the original mainspring that came with the lock because they are a little lighter and just as reliable, after all, Ruger supplied them. Although some want stronger springs, so it's a matter of preference. I milled them as shown out of pieces of my titanium scrap. Overkill I know. Welding 2 or 3 of the non-lock style brackets together works just as well. The hole is for the dis-assembly pin.
