I have no idea where I found this- Pic of a hard photo I found in my house, which is 126 years old. Would YOU shoot it?

"Would YOU shoot it?'
In my hands? OH He!! NO.
Thirty or forty years ago, I saw some home made 12 ga 'trap or set guns' at a flea market. Supposedly meant for booby traps or warning tools when loaded with blank charges but obviously deadly when loaded with a real shell.

What firearm & ammo were you thinking about using to shoot it?

Over the last 20 years of gunsmithing, I have had beneficiaries drop off amateur attempts to create suppressors, firearms, and a detonator case full of assorted ammunition and empty Weatherby ammo boxes.

We’ve come so far.

Imagine back then you could buy a gun and have it sent to your house no problem. Yet some people had to build zip guns.

Now guns are heavily regulated. People that would have built zip guns back then have Glocks with switches!

I dunno? ack in the day I made a few that were a lot cruder and they worked just fine other than being very slow to reload. Barrel was a brass tube with one end heated up and bent to form a seal of sorts. A hole of sufficient size was done on the top of the barrel and the whole thing mounted on a pistol like stock So that it could be held like a regular handgun. Charge was a firecracker with the fuse pulled out of the hole in the top of the barrel and a tablespoon of number 7 bird shot held in place by a wad of TP. Fuse was lit by a match or preferably a lit cigaret. Muzzle blast was quite loud and the shot flew fairly true. It was also rather lethal on a duck that got too close in a local park. I somehow got it home and my grandmother cooked it up for Sunday dinner. The year was right around 1955 give or take and I think I was about 12 years old at the time. After that duck, I never shot it again. The barrel went down into a sewer and the pistol grip was broken into several pieces and disposed of in garbage cans..
