FUSION foods-Have any good recipes?

A mixture of different ethnic foods. One of my faves and many of you will be going... Ewwwww! A Peanut butter/Tuna Fish sandwich. There was a time when I only could afford Bar-b-q sandwiches. Just the sauce on two slices of bread. Not fusion, I know.
Anyways, I just found out what fusion foods are. Big debate on whether or not Tex-Mex is fusion or not. What do you think? Any good recipes? Or do you prefer to just sticking to your own ethnic foods?

Long ago :oops: roommates and I were flat broke and only had a few loaves of bread and some cans of refried beans. Toasted bread, smeared beans. Tastes good when you have no money.
Also recall we did not run out if beer. Strange how a person prioritizes.

P.s. I stopped drinking 22+ years ago but I can still taste those beans lol.

When you think about it, American food is just about as fusion as you can get.

Except BBQ, nobody else does BBQ the way we do it here, especially in Texas.

Not sure if this counts. Watched a show about smoking food and BBQ. (Project Fire I think) The host was showing his method of infusing smoke flavoring into ice cream. Not sure if I would try it. But it was interesting.

Peanut butter and bacon, or peanut butter and honey were favorites as a kid.

The Navy/Marines here will have similar experiences of "Mid Rats".....basically lunch for night crew. It was mix of whatever was served at dinner and what was being prepared for breakfast....my staple was usually a plate with chili-mac, pancakes, and an egg on top.....sometimes the chili-mac was replaced with creole spaghetti...

Peanut butter and honey heck yes. I have been using a brand of Buckwheat honey from Amazon.

Hard to find at restaurants are buckwheat pancakes. But I sure like them.

Absolutely! My Mother made Buckwheat pancakes from scratch and they were my favorite. Aunt Jemima (or whatever the brand is now ) used to sell a Buckwheat pancake mix but I haven't seen it for awhile. Sadly, my Wife wasn't a fan...only my youngest Son and I enjoyed them...and he's out of the nest now.

Remember the cereal Buckwheats? I loved it...

Pizza is often the victim of fusion. Things from all over the world end up on Italian pizza.

Pineapple for example. Is not Italian.

I LOVE anchovies on pizza and wondered if that was an Italian idea........dang it was....originated in Naples back in 1700s.

Now I know what I'm doing for lunch today.....going to Fratelli's for a slice with anchovies.....I don't get it too often because the Wife will not allow anchovies in the house....I would buy several cans and eat them on crackers watching football/lacrosse games. Great snack.

I agree with anchovies being a winner. I grew up north of NYC. Slice of pizza with anchovies. :cool:
I remember burning the heck out of the roof of my mouth if I started eating before it cooled.
NO anchovies in my house due to wife's command. :cry:

Yeah I'm craving it now also.....didn't have dinner last night due to feeling crappy from a procedure.

A Navy buddy from NY always called it Pie. I remember watching football games in the barracks and he would say "lets get some pies"....or on deployment he would always say he was missing pie. He never did find one he liked anywhere we were.....apparently nothing compared to his NY pies. I think he was from the Bronx.

Ah, today is Veterans Day. My fave pizza restaurant is having 25% off. (most other places onlyi give 10% off, the same as they usually give to their employees, BIG DEAL!) If I buy one pizza/year, I get a free 12" cheese pizza for my B-Day. I love the pizza's from there because of the tomatoes. They are unlike any other tomato topping from other pizza locations. The name of this restaurant is Grimaldi's, in Sparks, NV.
And while today may not be the best to all vets out there, due to injuries or having lost a buddy, thanks to all vets who supported and/or served our country.
