My Ghost Rocket just arrived :). Guess I'm doing an install today...going to try and take pics or video my work....dunno though, don't really have to proper tools at my place for this....may have to bring my gun to work tomorrow and do it after hours :)

Any tips from you guys who've already done the Rocket install?

I bought a set of digital calipers (on sale at Harbor Freight!) specifically for the Rocket install, as I wanted to monitor how much metal I was taking off.

Using my Dremel and a sort of medium grinding wheel, I took off about .01" at a time until the trigger broke with a hard pull. After that, I switched to a finer grinding wheel and took off about .005" at a time. I wasn't about to trust myself with determining what was "business card thickness".

Go slow. Make sure you keep the face of the TCT square as you grind. Don't polish, let wear do that for you.

That's about what I was planning on doing if I do it at home, use my dremel. I'll probably find a way to fix it to a table and turn it into a somewhat stable grinder of sorts. I've managed to buy 2 6" sets of Calipers and a good 12" set, I keep the 6" dial Mitutoyo's at home.

I really doubt you'll have any problems. When I did mine, I had only previously taken my fire control housing apart once or twice before, so I was a bit timid about it. After taking it apart and reassembling 8 to 10 times, you get to be pretty expert at it pretty quick. :)

Oh yeah. I'm debating on fully disassembling the SR9 and recording and seeing how long it takes just to go back to ready to fire, but I'd like to have some clamps for reassembling the slide though....just for kicks and grins :). Almost want to see if I can strip the frame blindfolded. Last week I became fairly intimate with my SR9.

My tip would be to cut the tab off completely. That's what I ended up doing. I have a thread here somewhere explaining my reasoning and function theory.

But it's not to bad to trim down. I had to take quite a bit off to get the striker to release consistantly. I used a file and then cleaned it up with some fine sandpaper. The worst part is taking it apart and putting it back together several times. Seems like everytime I did, the gun got looser and looser. First time I thought I would cut some corners and not put it back all the way to function check it. Like to never got the slide back off!

When I finally cut it off completely, I used the cutting wheel on the dremel, it cuts real easy. Much easier than I thought it would. I would be careful using power tools on it.
