Fast enough to matter

I've seen written, in several places . . .
"Slow is smooth . . .
smooth is fast."

To me that means that you need to learn while working on being smooth.
Once you are smooth, speed comes with repetition.

BUNCHES of different ways to say it. :D

Seems like Bill Jordan wrote something in NO SECOND PLACE WINNER to the effect that, when drawing your sidearm, 'Take your time, QUICKLY!'

I liked how he kinda, sorta, subtly slipped in a dig (without naming names) at States and people who insist that firearms be locked up at all times unless you are physically at a range, some even wanting them stored at the range.

And don't even think about discussing the tactical side of all this with the gun control crowd.

Robbie is an excellent instructor,, AND a heck of a nice guy. He, as well as many of the top speed shooters will say basically the same thing.
It means that work on being smooth in all your movements, while focusing on accuracy. As only good hits count. And as you develop the skills of accuracy, you will find yourself becoming faster,,, as long as you keep things smooth.
I have seen many guys who had health issues,, looked older & such,, yet,,, when the timer started,,,, they were just smooth & everything clicked as it should. Then you look at their times & go "Holy smokes,, that was fast!"
Develop the basics as a natural act,,, without thinking on them,,, just like driving a car. It'll surprise you at how fast you will become.

Was in a class a few weeks ago where the instructor pointed out the forth rule of safe gun handling... know what is behind your target because a lawyer is riding on every bullet that comes out of your gun.
