Evs EVTs and all

When I ordered my Ford Maverick I had the option to order the Hybrid and no additional cost (at that time). I went with the standard engine and 8 speed tranny. I just did not feel comfortable with the hybrid configuration and the EVT transmission. The battery thing really bothered me especially thinking down the road if they needed to be replaced.
Any second guessers.

What is an EVT transmission?

edited: never mind, just looked it up. They are related to the CVT. But a quick internet search says they are lighter than the CVT. I wouldn't want that in a truck either. Although the Ford Maverick might be ok. I've never driven a vehicle with a CVT, but I would like to. I'm curious how they feel on hills, we have so many of them around Dallas, ya know.

Edited again, I would also like a Hybrid vehicle, but agree with you, it just depends upon driving style, how often you drive, and/or how long you plan on keeping the vehicle. Most have pretty good warranties, I'm not sure how the warranty works on the battery part of the Hybrid. Is it just as long as the rest of the car?

Well Kevin is SOFL not the highest hill is the landfill. I love the truck (Although my neighber with a F250 says its not a truck). The big thing with them is they only have a 2000 LB towing capacity. The towing package takes it to 4000 lb but runs about $3,000. I can fit a 4x8 in the bed. Drives more like car, a little cheap on some of the stuff. Consumer reports gives it really good marks. The eco Boost got about 37 mpg on the highway for me and that little Eco boost makes to scoot when you kick it. I really like it a lot!

Awesome gas mileage there, you wouldn’t even need the hybrid system with that!

I’ve seen a few of the Maverick trucks driving around, they do look nice.

Mine gets mid 20s mpg around town. It has an auto stop that I deactivate because alI find it irritating.

Well there's another 'no way' aspect of the EV. All but two of my trailers weigh more than 4000# EMPTY.

I have some insight on electric/hybrid vehicles. My sister and her husband are on their fourth Prius. Her three him one. All three of the vehicles were replaced because the batteries either died or were close to it.

The cost if battery replacement was higher than the value of the vehicle, for the consumer.

But what happened was they traded in the vehicles and the Toyota dealer replaced the batteries for less than one third the cost to vehicle owners. The dealers then sold the cars making a pretty good profit.

Amazing how a dealership can purchase and install batteries for such a discounted cost over a vehicle owner.

No collusion there at all.

Have owned two hybrids, Honda Accord on which the battery died before battery warranty was up and was dealer replaced. The other was a Prius. The Prius got great mileage, developed a water leak somewhere in the engine which cost $3k to fix and required pulling the engine. Got rid of both cars. We are low mileage people so hybrids saved us no money. Battery warranty needs to be markedly increased before I would buy another. And then there is the fire risk.

My buddy had one. He always bragged about the good mileage. I couldn't believe it weighed over 5000 lbs because everything was plastic. Then, he hit a little baby deer and the car was totaled.

Not for me. The year before gas cars are outlawed, I'm going to buy two of them - identical twins. One I'll drive and the other I'll put away and save it for when the first dies. That should last me until I die.

On an other topic, I will not stop burning wood for campfires and barbecues, my gas stove will never be replaced, and I will never vote for......well, you know.

All that I think about the electric vehicle thing is this......I prefer the older vehicles to drive, maintain, and keep going. This is that {fuzzy} 2005 and earlier era of vehicle.

I can look at all the reported problems with newer vehicles, the actual total cost of the "electric system" for driving an electric vehicle, and just how long do the newer vehicles are designed to stay functional. I can see already that the newer vehicles are not made to keep going/built as well as something that is 20 years old. This is not a knock against (possibly) better technology, but more a matter of designed obsolescence in the modern era. All manufacturers are guilty of this, and I am much more prone to enjoy owning something that I can keep functioning for many years, possibly decades, longer than something that is designed to fail withing a certain parameter...without replacement parts being available to return said product to usable status. Try replacing most of the EV's parts within a reasonable cost frame, or even being able to repair some of the newer gasser/diesel vehicles on the market now...... Overall quality has gone bye bye, and that is clear for all manufacturers in one way or another.

And one more thing with EV, that most don't want to talk about. The end costs of the product. There are enough environmental damages done by aquiring the battery components alone, prior to assembly of the EV, that make this type of vehicle really horrible in comparison to a gas/diesel vehicle; that one should be really educating oneself about what is being pushed upon us/sold to us. Then educate yourself about the end of life costs of the battery/electrical systems within these type of products....they are mostly toxic waste products that cannot be recycled within any common sense cost to benefit ratio when being used.

I lump the EV and hybrids into the same type of class here. They all have huge batteries that are not easily/well recycled. They are newer vintage vehicles that are not made to last 20, 30, 40 years with good maintenance.

And if you still cannot agree with anything I said here, do some research on EV/Tesla vehicles burning up and the costs (environmental and economical) associated with this common occurrence as compared to putting out a normal vehicle fire.

I think Joey and company want to run them down our throats. Better get out and work for any candidate that isn't woke. Forget the secondary issues, the main thing is to stop Old BO and Senile Joe. China is working on plants in Mexico to avoid regs and tariffs. Make the auto maker make EVs and then flood the market with cheap Commie card. The destruction of the us automobile manufacturing is complete. Can't believe union management political bias.
