I bought this BKH44 a couple months ago and forgot to take a closer look at it until today, after reading another thread about an engraved RSSMX.

Grip frame is signed "DB" under the left panel.

Any clues as to who did the work? I have done some googling and also thumbed through Dougan's Compliments book, but no luck on the identity of DB.

The gold bands on the cylinder and on either end of the barrel are reminiscent of some of the famous engraved Rugers. The engraving appears to be well done. Kind of a "less is more" minimalist approach.

Gorgeous gun! And, looks like some extremely high quality engraving to me! Also, since engraving styles are as unique as an individuals handwriting, it shouldn't be too terribly difficult to find who's responsible with some research.

Very nice OM .45 there. I'm not much on engraved guns,, and when I see any,, where they are as you say; "less is more" I prefer that look. Made me check my serial numbers for sure too!

I wish I could be of any help identifying the engraver,, but I'm zero help there.

That is exceptionally nice. It's just the right balance between a totally plain gun and one that's too gaudy. Very high quality engraving by a very talented person. Congratulations on owning such a beauty.

I got to wondering if the DB signature under the grip might be the initials of former owner rather than the engraver since it is not very fancy. So I pulled the ERH to look there, but that area was blank.

But while I had it out, I reckoned I'd take a close up of the cylinder engraving since that doesn't show well in the first set of pics.

And as expected, the ratchet and bushing are both blued as they would be from re-bluing after the engraving was done.
