I got my first revolver today. Ruger SP101 .357. I traded 5 of my 7 guns for it plus paid the tax. I went in thinking about getting a .22lr or mag or a .38 Special. I thought about the .22 because ammo is cheap. But I was a little unsure about the relability of the that caliber and the self-defense use. I still have my 2 LCP Maxs with thumb safeties, one for me to carry and one for my wife. She is so pretty!

I have one of these and it is my regular carry gun with a couple of speed loaders.
and it shoot great even with full house .357's
lots of folks replace the grips but mine is stock

Nice gun! The 101's are a pretty sturdy, working gun option. What was the cost on it? I have a couple, but they all came used.

I have a speed loader for mine too, in 357. How does yours work? On mine, it's a little hard to get the rounds into the chamber straight enough to drop them, because the loader hits the grips. Not entirely sure they're factory grips. (wood)

Well, it's just MY opinion,, and I know that's not worth much. But I feel you "over traded" to get the SP-101. I see over $1000 in trade value,, while a SP-101 can easily be had for a lot less.

I truly hope you are happy with your trade,, but I feel the shop took a huge advantage of you desire to own the SP.

Especially since they made you pay the tax on top of the trade.

There are a lot of used guns in my area. I am okay. Might have been a little low, but I am still happy with the result.

I'm not going to criticize your trading 5 for 1. I have done similar things in the past myself. On any trade, when both parties walk away happy that's fine. Getting past that, I think you are going to be very happy with your sp101. You will appreciate the design, rugged, nice looking, and dependable. I look forward to your comments after shooting your sp101.

All that matters is you are satisfied. And we are now warned not to deal with your LGS. I have the cousin to that, 3" SS .327 Fed Mag SP101. VERY happy with the decision. You may want to consider a Hogue grip for it at some point.

Sorry, just seen your comment. Thank you for your comment. I would preferred to have sold them online like I have in the past, but my wife does not like me doing it for safety purposes. I would have got more. But it was a quick way to get what I wanted.
