The Crimson Trace Rad Micro has been on my EDC Max9 for almost 2 years. It's been bumped and beaten around in my pocket daily, dunked in saltwater 3-4 times etc. Not too long ago I was putting some rounds through it and the dot seemed to supernova. It just kept getting brighter till it went out. New battery brought no joy so I finally got around to calling Crimson Trace, sent them a pic of the serial # and a few days later a new one arrived. I'll be relegating my Romeo Zero back to the spare parts door.

I think Crimson Trace also offers once-per-year 'free batteries for life', for some models at least. I plugged in a little info at their web site, and figured they would send a new battery 12 months later (since the RDS was brand new). They sent the battery immediately, no charge! Not a big cost savings, but kind of nice!

Another vote for great customer service from Crimson Trace.

I bought a CMR-201 for my RAP 9mm and love it...though admittedly not using it much. When I gave my Father in Law a Security 9 for use as a HD pistol, I purchased another CMR-201 from a seller on eBay for use on it.

The seller listed it as "New" and unused, but it definitely had at least been mounted on a firearm. No big deal, but the beam appeared "splattered" and not a sharp dot, like my other one on the RAP.

I contacted Crimson Trace and they suggested a couple things to try to clean the lens in case it was just some "smutz" on the lens. It wasn't. There was something definitely wrong with the unit.

I thought I was out of luck, since I bought it from some shyster on eBay. I was wrong...they shipped me out a brand new unit and I sent the defective one back. They even gave me an extra supply of the little cleaning swabs, since I used up a bunch to try to clean the defective unit.

They are a top-notch outfit.

PS: I also use the free battery service as well for our two CMR-201 units. I don't do it every year, since they pretty much never get used...but this post reminded me to send in for new ones...
