I know its not a Ruger but......tried my Cooper 57M at 100 yards with 6 different kinds of ammo. Looking for some very accurate ammo and tried wolf, eley sport, eley standard, rem target, rem target by eley and some cheap federal hollow point bulk. Best groups 1 - 1 1/4 were from eley standard with a very close second with the federal bulk at 1 1/4 - 1 1/2. Does anyone out there in Rugerland have any suggestions on other target or match ammo? I really don't know what I can expect out of this rifle at 100 yards.

1" to 1 1/4" at a true 100 yards is damn fine performance for any sporting grade .22, with any ammo. Sounds like you tested some of the best. I'm a bit surprised that Fed Bulk shot so well for you, as it rates last in accuracy in almost all of my .22 rifles--although I do have an Anschutz 64 that just seems to love the stuff.

If you're looking for a very reasonably priced but accurate .22 ammo, give Federals load #510--called either Champion or Lightning--a try. That stuff has produced 1"--1 1/4" groups consistently at 100 in my CZ452, and I know many others who have had similar results with it. Available at Walmart and reasonably priced.

Hi,

Win T-22 was a favorite of the guys shooting silhouettes back when I spotted for a buddy.

I've seen guys who could hold an inch at 100 w/ some nicely tuned target rifles, but agree w/ Snake's idea you're probably close to the limit of a sporting rifle anyway.

Good luck and when you find something you really like, be sure to buy as much of the same lot as you can! Next lot of the same ammo might not be as good...

I don't really know much about 22 ammo but CCI Mini-Mags seems to shoot good for me and they don't lead the barrel plus CCI has about ten other types of 22LR ammo. 8) 8)
