College Majors that pay the Most and the Least

I found this interesting. And sort of ties into what Contender was talking about a while back with the salary of the police.

Here are a list of college majors that pay the most and the least. As you can see the most is engineering and the least seems to be social service type jobs, including education.

A few weeks ago the Rhode Island School of Design was mentioned on a tv show I was watching with my daughter.

I told her she should go there. She likes graphic design. Then I looked it up. $78,000 per year. Which at least does include housing. But man, oh, man. That’s just crazy!

My first year of college tuition was $151.

Long ago; one of my Instructors at CSULB was working on his PhD and did a study of the various levels different majors ranked at when graduating; Of COURSE highest level was engineering, computer, etc but always in the BOTTOM 1/3 of ANY graduating class was education majors.

Sorry if your spouse is an Ed Major, just what his research found.

Bob, you are right. In fact I recently also read that a college football coach for a state university can be the highest paid state employee. Imagine that!

A former coach of the University of Oregon football team, is now collecting $47,000 per month on the state or Oregon pension plan. And people wonder why the state is in poor economical condition.

Odd name for a band. Were they Air Force vets to come up with that name? During the Viet Nam era the B-52 got a lot of publicity.

There isn't much in the field of music that I don't care for but, sorry my friend, to me, that is  not music. Just an early form of bad rap. Didn't like it in '89, still don't like it.

I made it 2 minutes into the that B-52 video and I think I have to agree with O'Neal.....

back in the 90's a friend's son graduated from Warton and he was pissed that the best job offer he got started at 80 grand a year.......

Sadly the young 'kid' dove off the Golden Gate Bridge a few years later....

Computer engineering, computer science, business analytics ARE the majors that IT employers hire. Along with several other engineering, statistics, mathematics and business degrees. Art majors, psychology majors, political science majors, performing arts majors? Not so much.

As to education majors making the least, even when I went to college in the early '60's, it was clear that the least intelligent, and least capable students became "education" majors. And among those, the least intelligent became "physical Education" majors. The smartest were not in engineering, despite being at the top of the list for earning after college. That is because the very smartest went into medicine, and from college went on to medical school, and after many years of education they easily outstripped engineers in earning power. While not nearly as true anymore, back in those heady days of the '60's to at least the '90's, being an M.D. was, in the words of my brother-in-law physician, "a license to print money".

"Love Shack" was/is one of my favorite rock and roll songs of all time. I used to play the video over and over! But other than that one song I never cared for the B-52's band.

It's not among my VERY favorites, but I do enjoy it. The only other song of theirs I like is "Roam," which is also kinda cool. Just out of curiosity, how do you like REM's "Stand"? I kinda dig that one, too, for no apparent reason.

Ride '49, My Brothah, you don't like "Love Shack." I get it. No problem. There are LOTS of VERY popular modern pop songs that set my teeth on edge and will make me change the station on the radio--I'd be willing to bet at least a couple of your favorites are on my "fingernails on a blackboard" list, too. ;) BUT--"Love Shack" is NOT "rap" music, not even close. As someone mentioned, it's a '60s throwback song, maybe a first cousin to what was called "bubblegum music" back in the day. Hey, even the Beatles did a couple that aren't all that different, if you think about it. ;)
