Cell phone carry

I’ve carried a cell phone for over 20 years and most of that time had them on my belt. Doing so I have broken several plastic clips, had phones pulled of my belt when I had a very sturdy leather holder with spring metal clip, and lost one that obviously came off without me noticing.

Lately I have been carrying my Smart phone in a size 0 Uncle Mikes pocket holster in my shirt pocket. Problem is when my shirt / T shirt does not have a pocket. I’m considering a holder “sturdy leather?” on a lanyard like an ID lanyard but I’m not sure if this will just bang around and be annoying.

Any other ways you have to carry your cell phone, not at waist level?

I'm still trying to figure out who at Apple and beyond decided that cellphones needed to get bigger and bigger.... I waited on the smaller version of the #6 before updating a few years back.... (that's how far behind I am)....

I can't quite figure out what you describe.... I just have an Oscar protector around my phone and it fits in my top shirt breast pocket on the occasion I'm not carrying it at my waste.... on the waste I use a heavy pouch that my belt holds ... I usually cut the metal clip off of these... and just use the belt loop part. So far I've been lucky with phones.... I have the habit of always placing the phone in my pocket or pouch with the screen facing inward and have never cracked or broken a screen.... I see folks all the time with cracked screens.... (hope I did not just jinx myself)

just thinking the other day, when back in School during the '70's, the nerd stigma for having a leather cased slide rule and latter a calculator on the belt and NOW nearly every one has a LARGE belt clip on device (like Blume, those things are too big to be called a phone)

and to answer, flip phone, in a nylon buck knife case, in shirt pocket.

I just stick mine in a front pants pocket that I keep otherwise empty.

Being in a front pocket makes it a little hard to sit on - unless you're into getting lap dances, i.e...….. ;)

I'm retired, so my uniform is a Dickies khaki shirt and my i-phone 6 fits in the breast pocket. There are two, so it's lefty-friendly. That has the added advantage of nothing making noises in my pants.

I have a small LG flip phone that lives in my shirt pocket the odd time that I take it anywhere. I went through all the belt-mounted nonsense and gave it up years ago.

I have a clip that allows me to carry on my belt as a waist carry but found that to be impractical when getting in and out of my car. Since I have been using suspenders, I carry generally in my left shirt pocket. I am NOT a belt and suspenders man.

After breaking several of the clip-on style or having them get shucked off by various means, I found one that threads on my belt. It also has twin clips if I wanna go that route. It is codura nylon with a magnetic flap that keep debris out while allowing the flap to flip open should it catch on something. It is deep enough to cover about 95% of the phone..... It was made by some guy at a flea market. I tried a couple of the open top leather ones but found that they held the phone too tight to comfortably withdraw.....others were so loose the phone would slide out if I found myself at an odd angle like crawling under a vehicle. At this point, I like the top flap design best.

An otterbox cover and usually in my shirt pocket. Always with screen faced in. The only screen I ever broke was reaching into my boat when it was on the trailer. Sometimes in an old nylon camera case on my belt when doing yard work just so I don’t worry about losing it.

I found a cordura velcro flapped pouch (either VooDoo or Condor) and it's worked great so far. Provides protection, a bit of padding, sturdy belt straps, and is snug enough (while new anyway) to hold the phone with the flap open. No plastic belt hooks to break or dislodge--you'll hang yourself before this one comes loose. Cost $10 on ebay.
My phone is a Samsung so Apple might fit differently.

To the OP,,, our own member,, sixshot,, has a custom leather cell phone carrier,, a pouch,, that he wears on a cord around his neck. He says it's the best way he's found to keep up with his,, and be handy when needed. Search out a few of his pictures & you can see it.

There is something I've always wondered about. On tv, I see people a lot of times pulling their cell phone out of their back jeans pocket. It's mostly ladies I see doing that. Sorry ladies but that is what I see.

Does anybody really carry a cell phone in their back pocket? Doesn't it hurt the phone when they sit on it?

Apparently females carry their phone in a back pocket to attract attention to that area of their anatomy. Or maybe it's because their blubber gut prevents reaching any other pocket. I saw a gal in town yesterday who could have kept her battery well charged if she'd had a device like the old "self-winding" watches. I got a little dizzy just following her and watching that phone gyrate.
I simply can't imagine being functional with a phart phone in any of my pockets. Even a belt pouch is in the way too often. My little flip phone rode safely out of the way in a surplus 40mm grenade pouch

Would you believe, I have never heard my cell phone ring? My cell phone doesn't work at my residence. I have it just for emergencies. If I go into town for groceries, it sits in my car. I don't even turn it on when it's in my car. It's for me to call out in an emergency.

It cracks me up when I go someplace where there is a waiting room like a doctors office. Everyone's face is buried in a cell phone. What did these people do before cell phones? If they're not talking loudly to someone and disturbing everyone else, they are playing some stupid game. Have they lost the ability to just sit and think and contemplate things?

Cell phones are a license to become an idiot who thinks they are so important that the world needs to be able to contact them at every instant in time.

No I don't have one of those new fangled things that you speak of. Made it for 76 years without one.

I don’t have a computer. I check this and other forums on my old iPhone. I use it like I used to use a dictionary, encyclopedia, and Bible. I use it as a camera, a note pad, and a calendar. It fits in my shirt pocket. I email and text and all that stuff on it, too. I even use it as a telephone.

If I talk on it in a public place, I go outside so I don’t bother anybody with my conversation.

I don’t delude myself that I have to be reachable on the phone 24-7-365, but there have been instances when it was pretty handy for a loved one who was having some kind of trouble to be able to call me for help.

Sure, at the Doctors office I could watch Ophra Winfrey or contemplate my thumbnail, but I think my smart phone helps me pass the time in a more productive manner.

I guess this makes me an idiot and a bad person.

Since my promotion, I am required to be accessible to my employees at least during "reasonable hours" by phone, text, or email. I get paid for this so I don't complain. Immediately after the job switch, I was informed of this expectation and was reminded of it until I made the upgrade. I still don't like the phart phone but it IS part of the job so I'm trying to accept it.
I use a hands free ear piece much of the time since it's also a requirement when driving on the job and it does make the phone conversation more understandable with my poor hearing.

I'm a technosaur and still carry a flip phone-meets all my needs. Found a padded holster with a Velcro flap at a flea marker, fits on my Utility Belt Nicely. Down the road I will make a leather holster for it.

I have an iPhone 6, that I carry in the phone pocket of my Wrangler cargo pants. I do like being accessible to my family due to my medical expertise. My son texted me today about a gun purchase he made. It does entertain me, I do research on it, keep my RN/EMR licenses up to date by taking courses on line. I call friends, and they me so we can get together. At work, my boss calls me to let me know I have another delivery, give me updated info on addresses, and I use the GPS function too. Then when delivering flowers it helps to know where to place flowers so in the summertime they will be in the shade, and winter where they will be in the sun.

I use an otterbox. From time to time I destroy the plastic belt clip but they can be bought on Amazon without replacing the whole case & they do a pretty good job of protecting my phone. I did kill one phone that was in an otterbox but it never had a chance against that 42" cutting deck.
