I didn’t. We are having a lot of wind. My phone says gusts up to 49 mph. Weather man says gusts of up to 100 mph. I think that’s closer. The wind can be terrible where I live. I have an alliance flag and the wind has broken the second mount in a year. Actually I might have felt the quake and thought it was the wind. Those gusts are horrible.

Going to be an interesting night, at least. This storm is supposed to go through Monday night. The power is now off, no idea when it will come back. The oven is gas so we can use a match. Heat is another issue. Hopefully sometime tonight we’ll have power.
Actually Yakutat is quite a ways off from us.
Store’s closed early today. Some have lost partial roofs, including Walmart and others. But it’s still not as bad as some have experienced around the country in the last couple of years.
17,000 people in the valley are without power. That’s the equivalent of all the people in our little town, and half the people in the next town.
But we get about 5-1/2 hours of sunlight during the day, better than nothing.
Almost 3:00 pm and hoping for power to come back today.
Serious winds are really complicating the power situation. They got up to over 21,000 households without power yesterday. Earlier they were down to 16,000+
I don’t want to go through last night again. So much for a history of power outages lasting 2/3 hours. I have to be better prepared next time. Of course that was Anchorage and this is the valley. I haven’t heard of any power outages in Anchorage yet, so apparently they escaped.

Power came back at 11:40 last night. With no power and temperatures in the single digit I don’t care how many blankets you have on it’s cold. I wasn’t looking forward to another night without heat. I had been in bed for 3-1/2 hours when the power came back. It took several hours for the heater to catch up.
The winds didn’t slow down today the gusts had to be very close to 100 mph. I went to Walmart to get the 1# propane bottles for our heater. When I came out a lady was being put in an ambulance after the wind knocked her down. I was concerned several times myself.
Gusts are supposed to be down to 75 mph tomorrow. It doesn’t typically last multiple days. Frost bite can be a real issue just trying to walk from the truck to the store and vice versa. I had a parka on and still was getting brain freeze. Tomorrow is day 5 of this.
The winds are the killer. When I was in Barrow, Ak I was out in -44 temps but almost no wind. Much was to contend with. Plus I had a polypropylene face mask, and had my beaver hat on. Those hats are very nice and warm. I should have been wearing all of that the couple of times I went out. Plus I was much younger. Now I’ve got diabetic neuropathy in my feet these days and my balance is not the best. Makes things a lot testier when those gusts hit you.
Normally we put out the trash cans on Sunday night for trash pickup but got a text that they wouldn’t be picking up this morning due to the winds. We lost 2 trash cans in the last 2 years, due to the winds.
