I got this email from the NRA. It's about an upcoming event at Cabelas. Here is part of it.

Cabela's will be hosting an NRA Weekend, February 13-14, 2016. Store customers can join or renew their NRA membership and receive a $25 Cabela's gift card.

In addition, NRA is seeking instructors to support each Cabela's store by conducting a 60-minute clinic that will cover:

GENERAL SAFE GUN HANDLING METHODS
SAFE GUN STORAGE
HOW TO CLEAN YOUR FIREARMS

So,,, while some of the stores & other places around this country are not supporting our gun rights by visibly showing support for the whipping post of the anti-gun crowd,,, (The NRA) at least one of them is doing so in a big way.
No matter what you think of Cabelas as a store (too high prices, bad clerks etc,) at least they are willing to work towards a stronger NRA for ALL gun owners.

I'll give them credit for that nearest store to me is 150 mi. away give or take.
I will not participate 3 hrs in each direction no thanks. ps

I occasionally make an on-line purchase from Cabelas, but as with Powder Smoke, the store is a bit far away to make the drive. However! I DO appreciate the fact that they openly support the NRA!

The Cabelas here has had several NRA signup events lately where people can sign up and get a coupon for a discount
etc. Usually four or 5 tables lined up with literature, seating and someone to help. It's always busy.
Personally I like Cabelas. The prices aren't that bad if you are selective, they have a huge amount of inventory
to choose from and I don't waste my energy getting upset at the employees. I have a life of my own to supervise.
There are jerks and ignorant people everywhere. Cabelas is no different.
They've kept me in ammo, powder and accessories for quite a while now so I'll keep going back. :D

+1
I like Cabela's and shop there quite frequently......but it's only a 24 mile round trip for me. The NRA events at my local store have been occurring twice a year, in February and September. Hats off to Cabela's for promoting the NRA. :D
I order most of my .22 ammo from them online and have it shipped to the store free.
BTW, they also offer a 5% discount every day to active military, retired military, active reserves and VA-recipient men and women of our Armed Forces at any of their retail stores.....in store only of course.

Just a reminder that Cabela's NRA weekend is only a week away. Feb 13-14. :)

It's about 25 miles to my nearest Cabela's they have been open 5 or 6 years now and have been having this NRA weekend event every since they opened, it's a real good deal for shoppers they can basically get free membership if they are there to spend money anyways.

Now contender, don't go all gushy on us. Without hunters and gun people
in general, their business would cease to exist. Sounds more like a good
business decision, to me.

I agree Pat, it is good business.

However,, as I visit a lot of small gun shops, or other "gun people & places," I get REJECTION for the NRA way too much.

To have a national chain, even one who's business sells a lot of the very stuff we NRA members enjoy, step up & do a national advertising campaign, & try & build the numbers of our membership, is commendable!
Besides,,, it also gives the media fits! :D :D
