I think the search function hates me. Keep getting fatal error. I know they do a 45lc/45acp combo. My question is.. I have a large quantity of 230 rn lead for my son's 1911 that I reload for him. Any chance of using same for plinking with my Vaquero 45 lc.??? The slug,not the ammo. Thanx Stash

Depends on size. If they are .451 cal I say no. If they are .452 I say yes.

I expect, (but don't know for sure) that the Vaq uses the same .451-.452" barrel as the .45 BH, and I see no reason why you couldn't plink with those ACP lead bullets, even if not with "hairsplitting" accuracy...(And you may even be pleasantly surprised!) :wink:

When I did CAS, that's what I used. I wasn't using it for "pin point" "long ranged" "hard hitting" "hunting" ammo, just hitting a steal plate. It worked fine for what I needed it for.

If you had the ACP cylinder and were loading it in ACP brass, you will still be using the same barrel.

I use a 230 grain rn in my birds head that i cast for my 1911 with stellar accuracy. I was pleasantly surprised by this

Absolutely. They'll work just great.

Many of the current loading manuals have data in them for 225 and 230gr jacketed bullets. You'll need to use a good tight neck tension, and use your ACP taper crimer on it.

They are Hornady 230 gr. .452 dia. so I guess I'm good to go. Thanx All Stash

Yes, I use some of the same bullets for 45acp,45 Schofield, & 45 Colt reloading. Mine happen to be 200 grain plated & 200 grain 'TL' home cast bullets, both .452 diameter.

If you have a problem with leading buy some Lee Liquid Alox lube and coat them with that. That works really good on factory lead bullets.
