Nita commented this morning that my orange juice was the glass that was "more full."
Naturally, my comment was that something was either full, or it was not full, there being no degrees of "full."
"What would you say, then?" she asked me.
"The correct statement would be "More nearly full," I brilliantly explained to her.
"Forget it, then." was her response.
So our breakfast conversation centered around words that are superlatives in themself.
Examples cited were "lost, dead, and pregnant." A person, or animal, is either dead, or he is not. One cannot be any deader than dead.
What about bad? Ah! "Bad, worse, worst." And "Good, better, best."
A telephone call from our daughter from Texas interrupted such high level conversation.
Retirement is grand!
