BKH-30 Type 4 found in PHX

Found a nice BKH-30 laying on a table today during set up for this weekends Show at U of Phoenix Stadium. Saw the 10" bbl, flattop and price tag in that order. Bought the gun and then discovered it was a 357 and not 44 flattop. Has original grips, graying grip frame, slight turn line and light bluing wear on the loading gate, erh and left muzzle.

Very Cool gun that made my day. Yes it is an 8 groove.

Great Rare Find! In all the years of gun shows I have never seen a 357 10" 8 groove on a sales table! Always been from a collector to a collector! J/S

Great snag Larry. I was right behind a 44 Flattop today. John (paladin) snagged it just as I walked up right behind him. Man there was sure a crowd today.

Just got off the phone with the nice lady at Ruger and the gun letters as a BKH-30 shipped in Apr '61.

Ended up getting an OM 357 Blackhawk, 30 prefix, from the same dealer. He had Colts and Winchesters and didn't have much interest in Rugers.

Lane Pearce used to own the consecutive to the one Chance just found. Lane's gun has probably not been away from him for more than a few years, so may be easy to find.

Yes, as far as I know he sold them all a while back. His two holdouts were the 15" flattop and the #14 Single Six. I don't think he has anything left

There was alot of excitment over the 15" flattop a few years back @ Tulsa, Nice old gun!

Here is a neat story for me on that 15 in. Flattop. When it came up for sale in the 80s. Jim Dillion sold one of the best looking cased and boxed Super Blackhawk collections that was to be seen anywhere, a Consecutive pair of Engraved Single-Sixes, an all Blue Engraved Single-Six. Some Mint Boxed Lightweights. This is how bad he wanted that 15 in. Flattop. Well it seems that Jeff Munnell ended up with the Engraved Single-Sixes and some of the Lightweights. This caused Jeff to have to sell his Engraved Single-Six which was serial number 35538 which I bought. A year or two later I was able to match it up with one that Donnie Findley had, serial number 35537. The one that Jeff had was shown in his book "Ruger Rimfire Revolvers 1953-1973". The one that Donnie had was shown in Dougans book' "Know your Ruger Single-Action Revolvers 1953-63. I also ended up with a nice mint Lightweight out of that deal. So as it turned out I too have fond memories of that 15 in. Flattop. :lol:

Second ?: Did SN 14 Single Six ever sell for the asking $40K? I held it in my hands in New Orleans and could have outbid him...BUT, no guts, no glory........BTW, those were original Ruger FLAT bottom ivories on that gun.......... :roll: :wink:

Splitz, don't think the 15 inch gun was roll marked but I could be mistaken.....maybe I can just weld an extra BKH47 barrel to one of my BKH47's :roll: :roll: :roll: and have the SUPER RARE double sighted 15" FT :lol: :lol: :lol: with double roll marks.....one eagle and one non....RR.

Just noticed Chet's post about Lane Pierce guns so I decided to check my numbers and he is right. Serial number 37372 lives at my house. It also is complete with box and all papers. RR you probably saw this gun in Harrisburg. I think I knew that it came from the Pierce collection. Just slipped my ole mind. "Not dumb just slow! "

Sooo, having bought some guns from that collection, I thought I would check and sure enough I have that consecutive serial number. I have not been one who gets excited by consecutives but others encouraged me to consider it. I guess I will have to "blame" Radical Rod for this. His bad habits are rubbing off on me. GOTTA BE HAPPY RR can be a serious problem if you are planning on lowering your expectations on RUGER COLLECTING :lol: :lol:
