Big, chunky P's...

Just picked up my P95 yesterday. Everything I read about them said Big. Chunky. Reliable. No flash.

Brought to my mind another "P" series this was said about. Big. Chunky. Reliable. No flash. Oh, and built like a tank,too.

That was the P-47 Jug.

Turned out rather well. As I recall, the Austrians wernt too thrilled.

I like this pistol.

Each hand to its own. Yea, stout is how I have always characterized them. I like to have a grip of substance. The Ps by Ruger are hard to beat for toughness, reliability, and price.

The P95 isn't really all that chunky but it is a good gun. Handle some of the older alloy framed P-series pistols sometime & I believe you will agree with me.

Love the P95! Accurate, with light recoil, and 100% reliable, so far. Mags are very inexpensive, and Mec-Gar 20-rounders turn it into a heckuva home defense pistol. They stick out about an inch, but that's not an issue at home, and 21 rounds of 9mm JHP are a potent thing to have in your hands.

I installed an XS Big Dot tritium night sight on my SP101. The P95 may have to get one, too, someday. Right now, I'm trying it with a fiber optic front.

I love my P95 too. Things is amazing, not a single malfunction (that wasn't caused by the shooter....my fiance can't seem to stop limp wristing it, but she handles .45 glocks and springfields just fine, says .40s hurt her wrists though, whats up with that? lol)

My P95 is also amazingly accurate, more so than I thought. I need to practice with it more, its capable of better groups than I can hope to shoot right now. Love this thing.

Tried a few Glocks before I bought the Ruger, I liked the reliabilty and the accuracy seemed pretty good, but I just could not get past how bad it felt to hand. The guys at the range seemed personally offended that I couldnt enjoy it.

I did try. I guess I have odd hands. I love my Combat Commander, but the .45 that felt best to me was an old Star PD with a mangled Pachymar grip.

How I wish now I had kept it.

I compare my P90 to my Mountain Cur Dog. He is big and bulky, but he will get the job done. Do you want something little and fragile, or something that will get the job done? If I was in trouble, I would want either of them by my side.

I was shooting my P90 today. Big, chunky, and I love it. Shoots straight, only FTF/FTE I've ever had was with some bad primers on a batch of reloads. The thing never fails to go bang when the trigger pulled and like others have said, built like a tank. Lot of fun gun to shoot. Not my first choice for concealed carry though, but if my life depended on this pistol, I would not hesitate.

Yea, I don't think that you can beat those big and clunky "P's." My first Ruger was a P85 that I bought new in 1990. I still have it today, what a beast. It took me over 20 years to pick up another "P." I figured last year that since they were ending production of the all-metal P90, I had better pick one up. Again....what a beast, but what a beauty! I love my two "P's."

Got a bit of range time with the P95, with its new fiber optic front sight. I was out there with another shooter, so P95 trigger time was limited to 25 rounds, sometimes we have to take what we can get.

It was a bright, overcast day, and the front sight lit up like a bright LED. I had no issues with sight picture, and I can't wait to put some more practice in with such a fun pistol. I've been working on my first -- DA -- shot from the holster, and I'm impressed with the smoothness of the trigger pull. Not bad for a "service" autopistol!

I have a 2001 P95, a 2004 P97DC, and a 1998 P90. The P97 comparatively sleek! I love the Ps.

I like the "P" guns. My recent acquisition of a 99% P94 9mm was most rewarding. I agree with all the attributes listed so far so I'll just say "ditto". BTW, my G19 has seen some reduced duty time thanks to the new Ruger.

I just picked up another KP95DPR15 after I foolishly sold the matching pair that I had to a father and son who feel in love with mine. I thought it would be cool for them to have a "set". I figured I would just buy another one in due time and then when I went to find a nice one I realized that the price has skyrocketed and they are quite hard to find.

But I found one on GB in NIB condition so I snatched it up. Has anyone else noticed the sharp price increase on the P guns as of late? They are quickly becoming not quite so affordable as they once were.

Yes. I have. That's why I bought a couple more P95's and the P94. I also laid in a good supply of new magazines for them. With the gun climate the way it is I expect to see fewer and fewer "deals" for a good while. I used to find P guns everywhere I went and tons of used ones. No more. Even the mags are not up for sale as much here on our forum like before. I was at Whittakers yesterday and the only P gun there besides the 345's was a P944. There were several SR's though. They are really in demand and If I find another one around I'll try to get it too. I've probably had 5 people ask me to sell one of my P95's this month at work.

Do you have the Hogue Rubber Grip on it? I've tried different grips, but I haven't found anything equal to the Hogue Rubber Grip on mine.
