I have a new model blackhawk and the base pin plunger keeps falling out. Is there something that is supposed to hold it in? I've almost lost the pin and spring several time and it is really becoming a pita. Is the only solution replacing the base pin?

Parts diagram shows only the base pin, the plunger, and the spring, all under the same part number. I guess the end of the base pin is swaged over the plunger and spring.

You can get the oem part from Ruger or other sources, or you could contact Belt Mountain.

It's good to have choices.

send it (the pin ONLY) to Ruger and get a replacement on them......
OR call them first tell them you cannot use the gun as it is.........maybe they'll send you one "up front", you return the defective one, if you were near here, we'd give you one to use in the meantime...............

Thanks for the advice rugerguy I had thought of that but was unsure if it was reasonable for me to do so. I'll give them a call this morning.
