Trailboss is a powder made by Hodgdon. It is made specifically for loading with lead bullets. It is a high volume, low pressure powder. It can produce mild to low-moderate loads (not made for hunting elephants).

I am JUST getting into loading. Good enough for elk though? And I won't take any further space on Sam's thread. Thanks JayHawk.

Probably not. As I'm reading the ballistics tables, a full charge .30/30 with the heaviest (jacketed) bullet you can get in a commercial loading would be marginal for Elk, especially in the terrain that most people hunt for Elk.

Trail Boss is, as Jayhawk said, a powder for low-moderate loads with lead bullets. It specifically produces low pressure, so it is not what you want for big game.

I have some, and use it for .44 and .45 handgun rounds. It does make for a nice low pressure round, though it stains brass pretty badly.
