Are early Glocks collectible?

They're collected by a certain bunch, not yet recognized by the masses, they do sell for a premium, you just have to find the right buyer.
The box and manual is a plus.

I purchased the gun/pistol in 1987 and didn't use it much, being more comfortable with revolvers and 1911 style with a manual safety. Glock experts told me the gun would only be worth $260 to $400 and the box and manual almost worthless.

YES, there’s a collectors market for them.
A guy local to me would maybe be interested if you decide to part with it.

I would compare a collectable glock to a collectable remington 870 wingmaster 12 gage shotgun. There are soo many 870s out there, that even the old ones aren't worth much. Same with glocks.

In 2017 a Gen 1 Glock 17 brought $6700 at auction; others brought $2000 to $2500.
Gen 1 Glock 19s fetch $5k In some places.

The devil is in the details. Folks not familiar with a Single Six would scoff at price differences not knowing a NM is vastly different than a RSSE.

Well, there’s lots of gun brands and other things I don’t care for either but it don’t mean they’re worthless.

There’s an ass for every seat as my car salesman friend always said.

I had a Gen 1 17L I sold for $1,000 about 10 years ago - in the tupperware no papers. I bought it for $150 so I thought I was doing good. It was from the second batch because it didn't have the vented barrel that were prone to cracking. I still have my very early Gen 2 19 with the desirable Austrian proof marks. Bought it new so I still have all the papers and tupperware box - but I did pull the gaudy labels off the box when I got it.

Some of the Glocks I saw for sale were, cutaways

I have a Gen 2 17 with box, book, and 2 17 rd u notch mags. Paid 465 for it a month ago. I think I can get 700 for it. The u notch mags are becoming collector items. Also have a Gen 2 19 made in 98 with 2 ban era 10 rd mags. The 17 was made in 88. I really like no rail.

...and another thought - the first Glocks apparently were produced in the early 1980s, so in 10 years or less some of them will become official "Curios & Relics". C&R firearms may sell for a premium, because they can often (depending on State law) be sold & shipped directly to folks with Type 03 (C&R) FFLs.
:)

My 17 came with the original Tupperware box with all paperwork and tools. Still has the sticker on the lid and the warning about the loaded pistol because of the locator in the box that could fire the pistol. Lots of older boxes on auction site for well under $50

GT was not that helpful, I remember seeing somewhere a compilation of recent gunbroker sales, some were over 10k for an original gen 1 with a prefix beginning in A, this would be original pencil barrel, unfired in the original box, with manual, warranty card and paper work.

Initially I was told my Glock was basically worthless, so I thought what the heck I'll just have some fun with it and customize it. I started looking at stipple tools, a barrel and comp, etc. I was doing a transfer at a gun shop and mentioned the Glock to the owner and he said those have become collectible. I had not purchased the Glock with any thought of collectability, so you can see the problem with misinformation

They are collectible by some people for sure. A 1st gen Glock 19 is high dollar and very rare.

I know one person who shot his finger putting a loaded Glock back into one of those boxes. He was visited in the hospital by a LEO who was inquiring, as expected.
