I'm computer stupid.
I do not know how to do a lot of things that Miss Penny says is "easy."
She set up my computer. She set up Firefox as our browser.
When I use a search feature,, I use something like duck-duck go.
I do not know if we have an ad blocker.
If we do,, I do not know how to turn it on or off.
I do know that I stay logged on here. This Forum is in my bookmarks,, as well as a couple of others. I click on my bookmark, and I'm here & logged on.
Yesterday,, I ordered an item, and of course,, due to the way it was set up for me to get the item,, the company was using a weird set-up. I had refused to try & order it,, BECAUSE it was very odd & confusing. I called the company. And in talking with them,, yes,, it was the correct & the set-up they were using. The guy allowed that a lot of folks were having issues & didn't like it. But he & I walked through my order.
Then last night, I got on my computer, & I had (4) emails from the site I'd placed the order with. That's exactly why I refuse to open a lot of stuff, or use anything suspicious. And once I get my item,, I'll be blocking their site, AND reporting it as spam.
Next I came here & now all of a sudden I'm getting ads at the top of the page. I get them in-between posts in a thread. And it's all what I call "click-bait" to get me to look at CRAP!!!!!!
It made me wonder if my order, allowed the company to get into this place & cause me to get these ads.
I went to (3) other Forums I'm signed in with. NONE of them had any pop-ups, or were different in any way. So I know it's here, and not my computer.
I miss the days when this site was protected & the only picture was of a Ruger at the top of the page. No stupid ads, no un-necessary crap, just good Ruger stuff.
