Howdy, Pards! I have NM Blackhawk, Stainless, 4 5/8 bl, 357 mag. I would like to do a conversion to 41 mag. I would like to have a blued barrel and cylinder. Also, I'd like to have a brass bead front sight, pinned as on the Stainless barrel. Any thoughts or ideas? Who would you have do the work? I would add antique ivory grips, later. I used to dream of fast cars and fast women. Now, it's food and custom handguns. I have led a mis-guided life. Oh Well. BHK

41 Mag barrels and cyls aren't hard to find, on the forum and the auctions. The easiest way to get a bead front insert to pin in your stainless front sight base is to get the 10/22 Ruger bead dovetail front sight and grind the bottom to match the shape of the bottom of your existing ramp sight blade. Then insert it, drill thru your front base pin hole and pin it in place. The blue barrel doesn't have a pinned front blade so just grind off the front blade and file a dovetail in the base for the above bead sight dovetail.

I would do my own work. I can buy 2 or 3 guns for the price to have Bowen do it. So who you choose to have it done by depends on how much you want to spend. Just google and shop around; here's a list of the most well known and respected:

That is my thought, also. As nice as a Bowen revolver is, I would rather have 2 extra guns than the one.JMO

Yes , I agree ... however the OP didn't mention anything about money. And to some , money is not an issue. I simply stated Bowen would be my choice. And maybe I didn't give the other custom makers proper credit ... I've held a Bowen , and I can't imagine anyone making one nicer. :D
