This auction completed tonite. Do not know if some of this Silver was more 'collectible' but brought significantly over Spot. Also had to add on the 15% buyers fee. Still a lot to be learned on precious metal market

As far as I know, there is nothing collectable about those bars that would justify a premium. And I for one, am not going to pay any type of "buyer fee" for any sort of PM....All in all, my guess is that ever who bought those was sort of new at it.

Whoever bought those bars of silver will be long gone before silver hits those prices.

My first thought about the title of the thread was the Lone Ranger's horse, then I thought about one of my wife's (RIP) sewing supplies. The last thing was silver bars... just me I guess and my way my thoughts run...

I made out very well 15 years ago or so when silver hit $50 an oz. I still have some, but it’s mainly old 90% coins. I like them just because they are old coins. But I could be tempted it the price went way up. I paid face value for it so I only see gain

I buy and sell silver and gold pretty regularly- or did. When folks get fearful about the dollar- and they are terrified these days- they buy. Last year at this time gold was around $60 per gram. Today spot is at $95.33. Silver is at $32.70, was around $24. HOWEVER, people- especially preppers- are clambering for both. I am seeing anything up to double spot out there, and people are buying it. I remember 2% premiums from major vendors ( JM Bullion, SD Bullion, Money Metals, etc...) . Those days are gone. It's fear buying right now. That includes high quantities in small spendable denominations. We now have 11 states that will accept gold and silver as currency. That's what is happening.

Clambering? To climb awkwardly or with effort especially by using both the hands and the feet?

I bought a little silver when I thought it was as low as it would get for a while. I am no collector or investor. Kinda like I am with firearms. Most of them are old and nearly new looking. Never will lose too much value.

It was an online auction at an auction house 50 mi away. I bought good jag of reloading supply's at a bargain. The silver was crazy tho!!

When one buys Silver on line ir on TV, or a magazine, whatever, you are taking a chance. Just last week at my coin club, a guy was complaining how he paid $450 for a coin on ebay. It looked good but, something told him to check it out. It turned out being counterfeit. He complained to the seller who would not take it back or refund his money. He then went to ebay to complain but Ebay would do nothing for him because it was just over 90 days. He is now trying to get help from his credit card company but they are taking a while to get back to him.....He can't even give the seller a bad review as the seller blocked him. He is working on trying to give him the bad review. He has an idea that will work.....in the mean time, take this as a lesson that anyone can be taken advantage of on online stuff and ebay. This particular guy has a lot of experience too as the counterfeit looked pretty real......I myself stay away from online buying. I like to see, inspect and hold it before I buy it. Look for a good coin shop where you can find a guy you can trust to treat you right with the selling price. For little or no premium at all, look for BU or AU 90% silver coinage. You can find some beautiful coins that are real, just at spot. To me, that is the best way to go......

There can only be a deflationary event. The response is what will determine the way it turns out.
Printing more or changing the currency to a different fiat. If they do not change over to a new currency then you'll see hyperinflation eventually.
If the change to a different currency most everything will belong to the government like your assets. Your business and your employer will be used as collateral for the government to reset the financial standing.
No one will be able to buy or sell without your digital mark. Sorry but it it's not really salvageable as it is, you'll have to be mighty thrifty or independent.

Aaaaaannnnnnnddd, how much inflation did we have prior to the Fed?

Gold was ~$20 for a couple hundred years or more. Right up until the FDR and the Fed was created. It started with the confiscation of gold.

On the eve of Y2K I bought a little silver. Haven't messed with it since. All I know about it is it's now theoretically "worth" about $34 per ounce. ;)

Ummm ... what does anyone expect over 90 days?
I agree Guzzler on the 90 days......but part of me is thinking if it was only 30 days ?? I will be seeing him at a coin club meeting this Thursday. I will find out about the number of days.

My thoughts were for investment was gold, but would be hard to exchange in bartering for smaller itmes in a SHTF scenario; whereas silver would be better.
Then recently read where gold and/silver just might be useless, so I keep replenishing my supplies of ammo.

I see all kinds of auctions for slabbed, graded Siver Eagle bullion coins that they're selling fo extremely high prices. It's just a freaken' bullion coin! And people are spendin 4 and 5 times (and even more) what spot plus mint extra fee! Crazy sh*t out there of citizens trying to buy precious metals in a frenzied market. And, you have every influencer, celebrity and even Ron Paul saying to convert their IRA's to precious metals. AND, if you don't have actual possession of said precious metals.....all you have is paper that says you have it! Crazy days IMO!

Ir is not smart to pay high premiums over spot price. Not smart at all. Buy as close to the actual spot as possible without the high crazy premiums.....Silver is Silver and keep it as simple as possible for True value.
