On this date forty-nine years ago Nita and I were married. We had a small ceremony in the chambers of a judge. My cousin, his wife, and another cousin, were present and represented the small wedding party. Of that group, only Nita and I are the only ones left.

Forty nine years ~ greatest years of my life. We've done so much together, shared heartaches as we lost our parents, lost a son-in-law and watched the trials of one daughter as she coped with being a widow. Another daughter struggled through hard times after her husband was injured on the job. And another who suffered a stroke and is in a nursing home. And, we hard some lean years, before my career began to take off. We always had each other, in a deep and abiding love!

And good times too. Vacations to New England, and the desert Southwest. National Parks and National Wildlife Refuges birdwatching or just photographing scenery. And neat out-of-the-way restaurants such as Slingshot Charlie's and Vinegar Jim's, Bozos and Gus' Fried Chicken. The thrill of a brand-new car, and that wonderful Jeep Grand Cherokee. The children at my Church! They have been such a blessing to me over the years. Friends we've made, and lost, over the years.

Wouldn't change a minute of it! I am a rich man beyond belief!

Congratulations. 49 is really impressive in today's culture and climate. Definitely evidence of God's blessing on you and your wife. I remember attending my paternal grandparents' 50th and 60th anniversaries more than 50 and 60 years ago.

Congratulations and it is great to read you know how blessed you are. So many don't...

My wife and I had our 41st this year so we are a bit behind you

Congratulations to you and Nita. In this day and age 49 years is incredible.
I too am celebrating an anniversary of sorts. 62 years ago I raised my right hand and took the Oath of Enlistment...with no expiration date.

Bob, y'all have my wife and me beat by 8-10 days ... as of January 9 I will have been married to my first wife ( :) ) for 49 years also. It's had it's ups and downs (mostly caused by me) ... but we're still here. Ain't it great :)

oh, forgot to say - regarding the "better or worse" thing ... I got the better, she got the worse

Well now, another interesting thing about this group. Many of us have been married to the same woman for quite a spell. While I was typing my congrats to Bob and Nita my wife reminded me that June will be our 49th as well. What the heck, the photos of my boys on my desk show a couple of toddlers. How can it be that many years.

That was a beautiful tribute to a life well lived.... wishing you both everything you wish for.

CONGRATULATIONS,

J.

Happy Anniversary quite an accomplishment in these days, wife and I will celebrate 42 years in July high school sweethearts and my best friend.
