I just returned home from a little shopping trip that took me to the relatively-new Field & Stream store.

They had ammo . . . bunches of ammo. All the popular centerfire rifle rounds and many of the not-so-popular ones. Shotgun ammo out the wazoo. Centerfire handgun in vast quantities. The thing I was looking for was the only thing running short . . . 9mm 115-grain White Box. There were three boxes on an otherwise empty shelf, and I left two of them for the next shopper. The shelf immediately above this was FULL of 124-grain White Box stuff, and there was a complete selection of all the other popular 9mm stuff. And a large selection of .40 S&W.

They actually had .45ACP and .223 and .308 and .30-06 on pallets. The stuff wasn't cheap, but it wasn't bad and it was AVAILABLE.

When I was back in the car, I realized I hadn't seen any .22 rimfire, but I hadn't been looking for it.

Maybe it's getting better.

It is better. Not sure the prices will ever go much lower than now, but as you said, at least it's available.
We've been seeing 9mm for 20cents/round (aluminum case) to 30 cents (brass case) for the better part of a year.
The .223/5.56 price has been consistent at 40 cents (brass). Bass Pro Shops has had .22LR 2 or 3 times a week for 6 to 8 cents/round, depending on brand and size of container. The LGS also has had everything, including .22, but it is still too high for me at 10-11 cents/round. WalMart has had all but .22. They claim to have it weekly, but I've never seen any. They get very minimal amounts and people line up every morning to grab it.

Much improved in Central N.C., not where it should be, but better than even a few months ago.

I can buy almost anything I want other than .22 LR/.22 WMR. I just got 1000 rounds of .223 delivered today @ about 25 cents a cartridge. (It's the cheap stuff, but it goes down the tube and will spoil someone's day) I've even seen .308 for around .50 cents a cartridge lately. Fixin' to buy 500 or 1000 rounds when it gets a lil cheaper! ;)

Was at my local Walmart the other day and they has just about anything you wanted EXCEPT .22lr.

Same here.

Plenty of the WWB 9mm 115 grain stuff. IIRC, 100 rd box is just a few pennies shy of $20.

I occasionally stumble onto some .22 LR. I found some Remington Subsonic 50 rd boxes before Christmas at Wally's. Limit was 3 boxes. So, I got 3 for my grandson for Christmas. He was thrilled to get them. I forget exactly what they cost, but I'm sure I had change back on $10 bill when I paid for them.

Like many here, I noticed the Walmart by me has just about everything but 22LR/22Mag. They still run out of stuff, but a few days later its filled again.
