A new American rifle followed me home on Saturday. I saw that it came with Weaver-type scope bases installed at the Ruger factory. Question: are these bases installed with loctite and torqued correctly? The smallest torx tip I have is #15 and that is too big to fit so I cannot re-install the bases..What say you? Thanks...

Well I bought a RAR in 223. I tried to remove the bases and broke the torx wrench. Don't know the size of the torx, as it came with a set of weaver bases I had bought in the past. T-10 maybe.

My .223 RAR came with the bases attached and a check of the bolts showed them to be plenty tight so i left them alone. I wouldn't be surprised if they were Loctited in place but I expect it's a lower strength version.

If the t-15 is too big, then it'll be a t-10 size. On Ruger inside and out, they use power drivers to tighten the screws at the factory, so they are probably tight, but of course, check them to make sure. Bob! 8)

Yes, they were tight and took a T-10 size. I will re-install with blue loctite at 25 in. pounds...
