Corrosion-X, Eezox, or FP-10 are proven rust-preventive products. Personally, I've used Corrosion-X for 7+ years now and previous rust problems have not recurred.
I have an HS2000, the predecessor to the Springfield XD9, which rusted on the grasping grooves of the slide, similar to that of the OP's LC9. The "Bruniral" finish was nothing more than manganese phosphate, and ANY phosphate finish MUST be oiled. So I repeatedly applied Corrosion-X to the slide daily over the course of a week until it stopped being absorbed by the phosphate finish. The rust that used to reappear after 2-3 months of storage has not come back in over 7 years.
Corrosion-X works by developing a thin molecular film that blocks oxygen transfer to the metal. Without oxygen there can be no oxidation.
Whatever the product, reapply it at least weekly to the LC9's metal bits.
