I rented a room for a short while in 1982 in the home of a retired friend of my father’s. This guy drove a maroon 2002 because his 2 preferred cars (both Alfa 147s if I recall) generally were not running.

I had a Midnight Blue metallic 75 Camaro. The 75 was the Redheaded Stepchild of the Camaro family with 190hp and no Z28 that year. It had a few light mods, so it ran OK. I put 130K hard miles on it. It was replaced by a 1979 Toyota Celica GT Liftback. It had a sunroof and a 5-speed and was a hell of a fun car. It was faster, handled better, and got way better fuel mileage than the Camaro. It may have been the best vehicle I have ever owned. I also was still driving Dad's 78 Heavy Half pickup in the 90s.

sadly, a freak'n drunk t-boned it when he came tearing out of a motel parking lot. He just missed the passenger door and possibly killing my wife, then the sob speed off like nothing happened. Fortunately, it was still operating and I followed the #@!~ to his home. Then I let the local sheriff know where to find us. I had a chat with him prior to the deputy arriving, and I never laid a hand on him. Strangely enough he plead guilty in court and coughed up ca$h for my damages. Funny how these things work out, sometimes . . . . .
Knowing that it had substantial damage I sold it later on rather than try and keep it as a collector...

Never really a collector of cars, just had a bunch when I was younger. Learned to drive in a 72 Impala, first car was a 70 Mustang. Then I also had at different times a 70 Bonneville, 74 Vega, 74 Dodge Tradesman Van, and a 74 Mustang II (a dog). About the only cars that I had, and really would like to have again, were a 1965 Thunderbird and an 82 Bronco.
The 70's was the last decade that the different cars actually had some character and diversity, and you could always tell what was passing you. 80's and beyond they all look too much alike to me.

We had a 1970 Maverick, the real cheapie one described in the video with just a shelf rather than a glove box. Got it for free but I had to fly to San Francosco to pick it up. Drove it straight through to Tucson and it took 22 hours for the trp. I won't make that mistake agan. We also had a 173 Mercury Comet with was just a slightly fancier Maverick. The "Mav" had a 6 cylinder engine and the "Merc" a V8. The Merc actually gave better gas mileage than the Mav. the last 1070s vehicleI bought was a Ford F150 pickup with 4X4. I still kick myself for selling that truck. I took that truck into places that scared even me, although I didn't realize that until after I'd done it.

A 240 Z (fast and powerful) was not anywhere in the same category as the merc capri ( tiny and underpowered).
We had a 1967 Grand Prix in 1968-1970. Since my wife worked for Hertz and it was a Hertz car we bought it for $2400 in 68 with about 15K on it.
Son's first car a 79 Berlinetta that he bought from a neighbor when he was 15 in 1983.
He wanted to make it into a streetcar rather than a grocery getter. We replaced the 305 with a built up 400+ HP 383. He was not able to take it with him while in the Navy, so it stayed in my hangar for 20+ years. I then restored it for him and grandson.

Nice job! My ‘79 was a standard Sport Coupe. Same red interior. Mine had the 350. Loved that car. A local dentist would order a new white, red interior, Camaro every other year. This was one of his trade in’s.
The only thing I can’t verify in my truck’s history is the engine. At some point it had a 300 horsepower GM crate engine installed.nice square body!

Since it wasn’t totally original, I added a Weiand dual plane intake, 650 Edelbrock carb, re-curved HEI distributor, and 2 1/2” dual exhaust with Magnaflow glass packs for the old school sound!
It’s actually pretty quick, and will show my late model Z71 its tail lights in a hurry! Bad thing is it gets 12 mpg.
Yep. Been back a couple of times. But, I think it's time for another trip. There are some towns and places one should visit multiple times. And of course some you should never visit.
Several years ago we spent Halloween week in the Quarter in a time share on Chartres. Good times.

My first car was this 69' Dodge Coronet 440, Hemi Orange. had many cars in the 70's, a couple of Pintos, Dodge Bvan, Olds Omega, AMC Spirit. I currently own this 71' Triumph TR6
Sitting in my shop right now. Not quite a 70
I just realized the only 70s car I owned was this 1970 442 W30. The rest of the cars I owned were either from the 50s, 60s or after the 70s.

My driveway in 1988 - the white ‘78 Buick Regal in the background was my daily driver.
This was my first ride I did not own it. My parents wouldn’t let me work. It was bought for my use. When I left home it stayed. ‘74Gran Torino. I remember being excited because it had a 351Cleveland. After driving it & thinking it seemed weak I looked at a Chilton’s manual & realized how much emissions had neutered cars.

In high school my brother and I shared use of 71 Torino with a 351 Cleveland. I had it up to 140 on the interstate.
My father sold it when I started college and a couple years later, I got a 71 Torino with a 302. Not as fast but still a nice car.. We could cram about eleventeen guys into it.

This is the only picture I have of one of my cars from the 70s. It’s a 1970 duster 340. That’s my first wife standing next to the car taken in about 74. She didn’t get that car but when we separated, she did get the new 84 S-10 Blazer.

Pic is about 30 years ago. The Cragars were rollers as the Campagnolo wheels were being refinished. The Pantera Gr.5 "Lambo" wing was a styling phase influenced by a gf who drove rice burners. Bought the car in '79, still own it.

The 70’s cars I owned were a 72 Plymouth Gold Duster and a 76 Ford Granada. Both had six’s in them. Never had the ability to own a performance car back then but I’ve made up for that with a series of Corvettes once I matured. Probably wouldn’t be around today if I could have had a Corvette back then.
