I've got three 45 Colts. One of each barrel length.
It doesn't get any better than a 45 Colt Blackhawk

I have a Springfield Model 1911A1 and really like it. The only 1911 I can think of that may be better is a 70 Series Colt Combat Commander, Cal .45 ACP, Blue. I'll keep the Springfield thanks; maybe I'll find one in Commander length.

All of that said, I have two Ruger New Model Blackhawks in Cal .45; one is 4-5/8" with stainless grip frame and blue steel ejector rod housing. The other is 7-1/2" with blue steel grip frame and ejector rod housing. I would like to have a convertible .45 Colt/.45 ACP; again with steel ejector rod housing and grip frame.

My favorite of my few hand guns is the New Model Blackhawk .45 Colt, 4-5/8". If ammunition was more affordable it would also be my favorite caliber. What would be especially nice is a two digit prefix Vaquero convertible in .45 Colt/.45 ACP. I don't believe there are any of those though.

YOu need a third option; both. While funds may be low now, get one, then plan for the other.

I'm not qualified to help in this situation. While I have a significant preference for single actions, I also go weak in the knees over a nice 1911. I've got two new single actions this week and one new 1911 so flip a coin. :P

The reason I'm asking is, I have the P90 and the Lipsey 5.5" 45 Convertible BH. I wanted to buy the Large Frame 45 BH (Convertible?) and the SR1911. The last time I shot a 1911-A1 was 36 years ago.

Money is getting real tight with Home repairs, Medical and Vet Bills. I have just enough for a SR1911 or a 45C BH and Reloading Components, Grips, Holster........................

I don't understand the question.
Semi-autos and SA revolvers are clearly two different tools. That said, I have both.....but I use the revolver much more often.

1911. I don't own a .45 Colt but do have a few .45 ACP so the choice is easy for me.

Why not get the Blackhawk convertable & enjoy both rounds, until the funds grow again for that 1911...

Well I own a few of each and like them about the same. I would consider the SR1911 because you already have revolvers in .45 colt. But be careful cause 1911's are very addicting. I was on a waiting list for one year for a SR1911. But was well worth the wait.

45 Colt Blackhawk ALL DAY LONG!!! Why?

1) Simpler design
2) Cheaper to buy
3) The brass holds more powder... I hope nobody is dumb enough to try to argue that the 45 ACP is more powerful than a 45 Colt... but I'm sure someone will...
4) SA revolvers are the CATS AZZ!

I voted before I read the whole post you have a .45 colt BH so if you need a carry gun i'd say 1911 I have'nt seen the SR1911 yet but i'm sure it's a good pistol I have a SS spingfield armory 1911 and love it. If you dont need a carry gun i'd go with the .45 colt that was my vote and you can get it with the .45 acp cylinder.

Easy decision. The SR1911s are hard to come by and you already have a 45C.
But you can't lose eithe way.

Easy for me.... .45 Convertible medium or large frame... Then you can shoot both cartridge types. Every time I think about the time spent at the club by .45ACP users bent over picking up brass... I think, naw, I'll just shoot .45ACP out of my convertibles and be satisfied with that :) . As it is they always miss one or two, so my next box of 100 is almost filled with large primer range .45 ACP brass....

If you don't already have a 1911, the SR1911 is a nice gun and a lot of fun to shoot. If money is tight, .45ACP is cheaper than 45LC, but I'm not sure if the difference is very much if you reload. I like to have a variety of guns in different styles (1911, DA/SA, revolver, etc) so I recommend adding a 1911 to your collection.
