Guess I should have posted this here.

Can't find any W231 so I bought some 700X. Manual suggests 4.5 gr. with 230 gr. jacketed round nose. Anyone use it in their 1911- I like just enough to cycle the slide- Ruger 1911 naturally

Uhh,,, the question was about 700X powder,,,not Unique.

Follow the manuals with a test of a starting load. Slowly work up from there to satisfy your needs.

I also just loaded up some 45 acp rounds with 700x I'm thinking I used 4.2 or 4.3 gr under a 230 lrn . I usually use bullseye for 45 acp but was trying to clean up some powder on my shelf that just had a small amount left . I haven't had a chance to fire them yet .

I've used 230 gr JSWC bullets over 4.2 gr of 700X with excellent results in my Colt Gold Cup when I couldn't find any 231. However, I'm seeing more and 231 on the shelves over the past month or so.

4.4 grains 700x was my load with the one little can of 700x I bought back in the 80's.
