45 GAP Experience?

I have been thinking about adding a new caliber to the stable just for the fact it seems pretty cool and I found a like new glock for $375 . . . well I guess I have already added the caliber.

Anyone have any experience with this round or the reloading of it. I found the pro dies by Redding and a 500rd case of Remington ammo for $279. So I should have good brass and factory performance to compare to.

Please don't post comments about it being dead or get a .40 . . . I already have it and it isn't going anywhere.

While I've never owned a .45 GAP pistol, I did a fair amount of research on them
when I was hot for a sub-compact Glock 39 a few years back.

No real difference in performance from a .45 ACP, just a shorter case that
allows those with smaller hands to get .45 power in a smaller grip.

A Glock GAP .45 had no problem stopping a couple escapees in upstate
NY!

The surplus/police Glocks are often dirt cheap.

So are the long forgotten XD pistols.

I run 6 grains of bullseye with a 185hp in my glock 37. Runs just under 1000fps and is super accurate

I thought about trading for a Judge, then maybe a Govenor (I could shoot those
precious 45 GAP loads) with .45 Colt, .410 and .45 ACP on the menu as well.

However, the shop had one ugly Judge, no Govenors in stock or online.

Being that I'm more of a Ruger revolver guy..

I then decided that I wanted a NIB LCR in .327 Federal Magnum more than
a .410 wheelgun.

A .45/45 Redhawk isn't out of the question though.

I'm thinking one of those ($875 locally) is a good goal for
the New Year

I need a modern day stainless Webley..or maybe just a Webley??

For all intents and purposes, the 45 GAP is a semi obsolete caliber since no other manufacturer has ever chambered a pistol for this cartridge.

Glock, XD, Springfield EMP, Bond Arms, but it is pretty much withered on the vine.

The .35 SIG still has some advocates.

I liked it very much, but found practice ammo both hard to find locally and
also not cheap to buy when I did find such.

As for dying cartridges..

I can expect to say the same for the Snorty Forty in 10 years as people go the the
9mm and .45 ACP for the most part...with 38/357 holding steady as well.


2017 will be upon us soon, and all I can think about is how I need to save up my
meager funds and buy that .45 ACP Redhawk

The Single Actions don't feel right in my hands anymore, and I already have
a sweet as pie Ruger CMD...and now a KLCR in .327 Federal.

I'd probably never carry the Redhawk except for in the woods.

I can see myself packing for a trip and filling the cylinder up with
a moonclip of Double Tap .45 ACP..or .45 GAP.
As you never know what Thugs
you will encounter.


Still, it would be the culmination of every 1911 and Ruger revolver
I've ever owned, and probably much more accurate than my old
Vaquero in .45 Colt was.
