Any opinions on this ammo from you bear killers? Would y'all think it would work better than the 32 magnum?

I've thought about this combination for a while. It would be subsonic, but reliability could be an issue if you don't thoroughly test it as the 200 grain bullet is long enough to seriously crowd powder space and cause bulging of the case if they aren't seated carefully.

For bears, I'd much rather have this than a .32 Mag.

Way ahead of a .32 with that 40 load, assuming it works in your gun.

Not far enough ahead for comfort, but ahead all the same.

I don't see it working better than 165gr critical defense in my 4.4" barrel but some folks seems to think the hardcast is better.

From the greatest Maine blackie guide ever (who got quoted after finding out just how ineffective his 357 Blackhawk performed): "...minimum .400", 200g, 1000fps..." Frankly, I followed this rule, hence my commercial 200g 40 S&W ammo.

As for Mr. McNett and his beginnings with the 10mm, he did not start his DoubleTap company in a vacuum 8)

We, I'd love to have the 200 grain but I don't understand the "if it works in your gun" part.

There is no cartridge, none, that will work in every single gun.
None.

So we test the desired cartridge in our personal specific example to confirm reliable function.

Like any auto-loader cartridge... give the ammo a good testing in the gun you plan to use before you stake your life on it. :wink:

I have a Kahr CW40 with a 3.5" barrel. The Double Tap 200 WFNGC ammo chronographs 930 fps at 5 paces from the muzzle and 65 deg F. The Double Tap ammo functions just fine in the little Kahr. As much as I like it, I feel more comfortable carrying something with more power as my primary woods bumming gun here in the Montana Rockies during the summer months.
