40 S&W+p+ vs 10mm

Just remember: it's YOUR FACE that's directly behind the slide when the round fires.
I saw the results of a pistol frame (brand withheld) rear section breaking off and allowing the slide (or part of it) to strike the shooter's face.

...and other parts can fail as well: at least one Beretta 92 slide failed during US military testing, and hit the shooter in the face. Ruger very famously tested the P85 beyond anything that would be encountered in the real world (which was one reason I always liked P-series pistols :^)...

The (Navy) M9 slide that actually broke and departed the frame that I know of was using rounds intended for a carbine/SMG (MP5). Even with standard M882 a lot of them were developing cracks on the lugs and the breech face during deployment work ups. Beretta supplied slides with different material for the testing. When filling the contract slides were made differently/faster. Even today, if you compare a M9 and 92FS side by side there are differences. Different finish, plastic recoil rod, etc. There's a reason NSW went with the SIG226 over the M9. When I was assigned at Station Weaps Range Armory Div in the late 80's our AOC showed up one day with a name plague for his desk. It had a M9 slide cut in half, with a 45ACP round between them. It's a mystery where he got it...no way it was an actual broken slide from firing as it was too clean and exactly in the middle. Not to mention somebody would be missing a M9 slide from inventory. It was meant to be humorous. It did strike up a lot of conversation as not many were happy about the 1911 being phased out.

As for deer being the same as humans regarding terminal ballistics....ummm. No. Research it yourself as to why. Yes deer/animals can run great distances when wounded. Humans mostly don't die right away either when shot, like in movies/TV. In "A" school and again in SAMI school they showed us a film of what bullets do to a body. One part that I will never forget. VC prisoner shot in the head with a 308, 1/4 of his head missing. He was smoking a cigarette being interrogated.

I honestly don't see this stressing anything. The supported chamber and 24lb spring should be fine. I was pushing do not exceed 357sig loads just to get it to cycle with the muzzle brake.

Another very good reason to learn to fire from the hip.
First being it is quicker to get off a shot than having to raise the firearm to face level.

Some of you laugh but ask yourself why do the single action speed draw shooters never raise their revolver any more than it takes to get it out of the holster? After all if they miss the target they do not score. Either way practice can make one faster, as also with technique. And no slow and steady will never beat fast and accurate.

Well this experiment came to an abrupt end yesterday with a case failure.I never even got to any remotely Hot loads. After running some of my various defensive loads for accuracy(which it did lock back on all) I was going to run a few mags of my plinking loads through.
I guess my bad habit finally bit me. When I'm doing plinking loads I pretty much dump whatever range pickups I have in the case feeder and roll with it. Besides being heavily tarnished it looks like there might have been some dirt around the case mouth and possibly in the case as well.
Fortunately it was just a $60 Poly80 frame but replacing it will be more of an issue now with the current laws.

Deer and Humans are somewhat comparable anatomically. The difference is in the head!!! A Deer can run 1/4 mile with their heart and lungs blown out the other side. Most people will faint when grazed!!!
Not always iirc Emmett Dalton picked up 23 holes when they tried to rob Coffyville and survived.

Are the numbers 9 and 2 in there anywhere?
