This is my S&W model 60, a 5-shot .357 which has good hefty weight and is pleasant to practice with. Some come with fixed sights; mine came with fiber-optic sights which I had replaced with iron sights.

Glock triggers are not very smooth, yet I have never had second shot target acquisition better than the 43x. The 43x has a low bore axis which aids in second shots (muzzle rise and recoil are reduced). I would rather put in the time to adjust from a 1911 style handgrip angle, to the glock, for reduced second shot target acquisition and accuracy. The m&p shield I had was an accurate range gun, however the 43x is a better real world ccw alternative.
Same with the better sight picture on the lcr. Also, the trigger is outstanding as well, provided you learn how to shoot you ccw. Practice with one's ccw should be done all the time. You should know the handgun inside and out. In the service we ate, slept and etc with our rifles. I knew the m16 upside down, forward and backwards.

My 638 weighs 15 1/2 oz empty. I really like the "mostly" shrouded hammer that allows for single action firing if wanted. Trigger pull is just over 3 pounds in SA and you still have the DA firing option. Pictured here showing
the hammer and also in the hybird leather and kydex holster I made for it. Fully loaded in the holster it comes in at just 22 oz !

I had a Ruger LCRx and it was nice but then I got a S&W 360PD. The one I got has a better trigger and it weighs 11.8 ounces. It does shoot 357s but I prefer to use 38 Special because the 357 are hard on my hands at my age.

You say for pocket carry and between the LCR and the 442/642 I would have to choose the S&W. It' just a touch smaller and better shaped for pocket carry than the LCR. For me the S&W is less noticeable in the pocket verses the LCR. For shooting the LCR wins any day over the 442. I don't enjoy shooting the 442/642.
However, if you would consider a third option look at the Kimber k6sx. I feel it it superior to both the Ruger and the Smith for pocket carry and the range both. It is nearly identical size to the 442 but hold 6 rounds instead of 5. It fits my hand better than either the S&W or the Ruger. I am a die hard Ruger fan but Kimber hit it out of the park with the K6SX.
However, if you would consider a third option look at the Kimber k6sx. I feel it it superior to both the Ruger and the Smith for pocket carry and the range both. It is nearly identical size to the 442 but hold 6 rounds instead of 5. It fits my hand better than either the S&W or the Ruger. For me, the S&W is heavier, which is a plus for me, and a better made revolver. The heavier pistol will absorb more of the recoil -- a + for the 442. The quality of build favors the S&W. The heavier weight is also helpful for those of us with hand tremors. The S&W has a healthy after-marker community of options, parts, modifications, etc. (don't know if the LCR does or not).
I owned a 9mm LCR and hated shooting it. The felt recoil surprised me. A S&W with a similar barrel in .38spl doesn't have as much felt recoil for me.
A word of caution about the 442 design -- it will draw blood on the web of your hand if you shoot it a lot (barehanded). Personally, I prefer the Model 36/60/etc. with an exposed hammer. The S&W Model 642 is a DA/SA revolver with most of the hammer concealed. The shape is different since it still has a cock-able hammer. It may be a better choice in light of the blood drawing of the 442.

Who are you Kidding? It's hard on anyone's hands. If I want to shoot 357's out of a snubby, it's going to be my SP101 or my S&W 640 (all steel). That's why the light guns aren't even designed for 357. Hard on the gun and the shooter. Hopefully you hit the bad guy.

Very nice collection. Can I ask your what ammo you prefer for range and/or defense?
I mostly just shoot winchester white box hard ball. I hardly ever carry any of them for protection, I carry a small glock.
