I bought some 180gr WNFPGC bullets made by Cast Performance. Their website says loading info included but it wasn't in mine. I sent the company an e-mail but no response and no manuals use that gas check bullet.

I want a strong load to be used in a backpack carry 2 3/4" Security Six in black bear country.

Any suggestions as to powder & primer would be appreciated. I have 2400 and H-110 on hand.

Thanks,

Dan

I used the 170gr 358429 data less 5%, not for weight but for the amount of boolit in the case .

This was with a similar NOE 360 180 rnfp boolit.

Accurate online data has that bullet listed with both #9 and 4100 powder.

I bet 13.0gr or 13.5gr of H-110 would put you right there. 8) 8)

I am running 10.7 grains of AA#9. This is just under max of data I got from cast performance. AA#9 was the only powder they had data for. This load is extremely accurate recoil is very mild. It is my carry load for 357 smith which is my woods gun. I have shot it in 2 3/4" security six. Again very accurate and recoil is totally manageable.

I have the Cast Performance loads @ home. The H110 load was +13.5 and was very good in all 4 of my 357's. I'll post when I get home

I use 5gr of Bluedot under a 190gr hard cast for my .357. No gas check cause my hard cast is 22. Shoots great ad I have have taken two deer with this load. Not real fast but both shots were under 45 yards with complete pass throughs.
