357 Blackhawk

Just purchased 357 New Model Blackhawk, that is missing the whole ejector. I want to put one on it, but I noticed the raised threaded piece the ejector screws to is missing. What can I do to fix this? I really don't want to buy a new barrel, too, but is that the only way to remedy my problem?

The stud is an available part. BUT on OLDER guns the stud is permanently attached to the barrel and a bolt groes through the hole in the housing and into it..NEWER ones the stud and bolt are one piece. The sizes of the hole in the ejector rod housing are different too...I don't know if the threaded hole in the barrel has different thread sizes.

Any gunsmith can install the proper parts. He may want to clean up the threads in the barrel...they are not very large or deep. Some people install the older style stud with silver solder. I have had no trouble with the newer style, but sometimes "cheat" with 242 (blue) LOC-TITE thread locket. IF the threads are not damaged, all you need are the parts and a screw driver.

Call Brownells tech support with your serial number and they can get you the exact parts you need. The website is a vague on the differences.

I don't know of any new models that have the stud, that's old model technology. Look closely at the barrel, is there a threaded hole there?

Or is there a hole with a broken off piece of the screw in it? That's typically what happens.
REVISED: early NM centerfires do have the barrel stud per flatgate below.

Yes the scrrews for the stud are smaller than those that thread directly into the barrel.

Y'all have been great and that is why I like to use forums. I had to use the magnifying glass, and it is threaded. I intend to call today and gather up some parts. I think I will call Ruger first. Thanks so much for the input.

One option to consider is contacting Ruger's service dept and then send it to them for them to fix it. They will certainly do a great job and just might surprise you with what they do for you.

Called Ruger and ordered the parts, they were very friendly, even the price of their parts cost less. Now looking for another gun I can't pass up, really need a good .22, thank you once again for the posts, and advice.
