327 Blackhawk at the range

Went to the range today. I still haven't gotten around to trying a different 327 load for my SP101,

...so I took my 327 Blackhawk. It did much better. The load is 10 grains of H110 with an 85 grain bullet.

It is a 25 yard pistol range. I used a sandbag as best I could to stabilize the gun to see just how accurate it is. Overall, I'm happy. I'm sure the group size has more to do with the shooter than the gun or bullet.

Also took my trusty ol' single six That is one gun which just seems to get better and better the more I shoot it. It is a pre-warning barrel, new model. For the previous range trips it has come with me each time. Just a great gun to shoot.

I enjoy my 327 Blackhawk. I put in a set of Lance's hammer & trigger shims,, as well as polishing up the action a bit. Mines a shooter. I usually run a heavier bullet. I'm also awaiting a couple of boolit molds,,!

Yeah, I've got some 100 grain bullets I want to try out. I haven't made it over to the gun store to get some different powder as well.

Plus, my 327 Blackhawk still has the factory grips, which would be all right, but they don't fit very well at all. I've been meaning to order some from Private Schultz. I like his grips, but I just really can't decide which type of wood (or micarta. I suppose too...)

My rosewood stocks fit just fine. But I've been thinking on a set of handmades too. I make my own,, so it's just a matter of time,,,!

Those targets look like mine usually do. Yesterday I put 28 holes in a target with my BFR 45-70. You could almost cover them all with your hand. They were all around the red, but none in it.

I've been playing with Power Pistol and Cast Performance 113 gr Gas Checked bullets in my Blackhawk. 6.5 grains gave me about 1 1/2 inch groups at 25 yds today, and that was with one shot that opened the group up. All the rest were touching. 7 grains opened things up to almost 3 inches. Very fun gun to shoot!

I haven't had much time to shoot my 327 but I really like it. I'm also waiting on a mold from NOE. I've shot some factory 100gr AE and mostly use AA#9 for handloads, I've found it to be more accurate for me. Once I get the Keith bullet mold I'm gonna do some more shooting.

I do about the same. Just for grins I shot at the 8" 25 yrd gongs with my 327 sp 101 ,my 327 blk hwk , auto mag III in .30 carb , and my broom in 30 mauser . Wow , not a miss in the bunch , and all were sure noisy . That didn't even put any stress on my sore hand .....
