So my wife has been watching a local buy/sell/trade forum on facebook here. This a.m. I came in from work & she told me she had found a deal on an electric meat grinder. It is a Kenmore with a 1/4 h.p. electric motor that I am guessing was probably made in the late 50's or early 60's. I have been using a hand grinder but this should be much faster. The man who sold it to me said it had been his father-in-laws & was used for 30 years on a subsistence farm in New York state. He sold it because he bought something nicer. My girl did good but now she is going to be kicking me out the door to go deer hunting when the season comes around again (I didn't get to go but once or twice the past year as I worked too much). What a problem  .

Pamela if I get something early enough in the season this fall I'll let you know & you can stop off on your way to or back from Contenders & I'll hook you up. If you travel I-75 or I-85 you will be coming through not too far from the house. I gotta kill it first though & his get together is right about when bow season ends & gun season starts usually. Touch base with me this fall & I'll see what I can do.

I bet you could buy the most expensive and best meat grinder made today and it would not be working in 50 years.....

That is what I was thinking. This thing is solid. I'll see if I can get a pic of it up today. When we got married my wife laughed at my moms old mixer that is older than I am. Then she was trying to mix up a pie and couldn't do it with her newer mixer. I pulled out Moms & it chugged right through. The old stuff was made much better.

I have a meat grinder attacgment for my Kitchen aid mixer and have used it a lot over the last 30 years. Now, if only I had a hunter in the family to supply me with some nice tasty elk to grind....

I buy chicken breasts in bulk on sale and same with chuck roast, then cube the meat, freeze it and grind it. Best ground chicken and ground chuck you can find...better than store bought.

Enjoy that meat grinder for a long long time!

So I finally took a pic of this thing. I think it will last another 50 years. It might seem silly for me to excited about but it will really save a lot of work.

I have a place near here where I pretty much know I can get a deer on my sister-in-laws property. I just have to take the time to actually get into the woods. I've had trouble doing that the last couple of years because I've been working 6 days a week during deer season. Also I've got to go clear the roads back out between now & then. The last time I was over there saw briar had just about taken over everything. Oh well, I guess I don't have to worry about getting bored.
