I have just purchased a used M77 in 257 Roberts and I am looking for anyone favorite loads for this caliber.

40-42 gr IMR4064, standard primer and 75 gr Hornady or Sierra HP. Will wreck a woodchuck and in my #1B, 40 gr is one of the most accurate loads I have ever shot in any caliber or cartridge.

Stumps13 I have owned my M77 in 257 Roberts for 22 years and can't even think how many deer I have shot with it. I just picked up some Barnes Triple Shock 115 GR could not find the powder. Idon't have my manual handy but I think H380? Has been recomended by some of my friends that get reloads from a Guy in town. when I work some loads up I will let you know the results

My M77 will only shoot the longest (appx. 3.20") of reloads so I shoot the 120 Hornadys and a full dose+ of H4831sc to a moa. Good luck with yours.

My favorite caliber .I have 2 of them one in the 77 and one in rem 722.The 722 was a tack driver from the start and the 77 I had to free float and glass bed the action,but it shoots really well now.
As far as loads I have found the 100-110 grainers shoot the best out of my rifles.My go to load in the 722 is a 100 gr. Sierra SBT. 45.0 grs. of IMR 4350, WLR primer, Win. brass, coal 2.785.
The 77 liked 100 gr. Sierra prohunter, 44.0 gr of H4350,WLR primer,Win.brass, Coal 2.82. It also liked 110gr Nosler Accubond with 45.0 gr. of IMR 4831,WLR primed and Win.brass,Coal 2.90.This my standard deer load in the 77.
All the loads were "worked up" in these particular rifles with no excessive pressure signs.

Do those rounds fit in the magazine on your M77 at 3.2" or do you have to hand feed them? Just curious as I have a Kimber 84 and I can't load any longer than 2.82, or they won't fit in the Mag.

The M77 I have in 257R is on a long action and yes they will fit in the magazine and feed just fine. Chief aka Maxx Load

My Winchester M70 Featherweight in .257 Robt. has the magazine blocked so rounds can't be seated out longer. I load 44.5 gr. of IMR-4350 in WW Super brass, WLR primer and the 100 gr. barnes TSX bullet.
Load normally shoots right at MOA when I do my part.(caution: that's the max load in the Barnes manual)I haven't had a chance to try it on game as it seems Arizona didn't let me draw a tag this years, nor in the past five years. :x

I have a Mauser with a light 20" barrel that shoots 100 grain Speer BTSP very well with IMR4064. It doesn't like the heavier stuff which is somewhat disappointing as I'd hoped to make use of a batch of Hornady LiteMag 117 grain. The 100 grain is deadly on deer so maybe I didn't need the hotter stuff anyway.
