18.5 is a very comfortable load and scary accurate out of my sbhh and my cast bullets from wheel weights
 
My lot of 2400 is almost 25 years old, and is now almost gone. I am currently using 20 grains with standard large primers and a 245 grain cast bullet with excellent results. I understand newly manufactured 2400 is faster burning these days, so will have to drop down and rework the load when I buy a new quantity. I plan to use 17 grains to start.
 
Pushing cast bullets hard with 2400 requires a gas check IMO...
It's a double base powder with a high temp, not especially "kind" on plain base bullets... :wink:
