I was hoping for 38 Super. Even better maybe Ruger will take note of the success Browning is having with their scaled down 1911 (As is Armscor) in 380. We need more plinkers and sport shooters.

I plink just fine with my 1911 in .45.

In fact the other day my daughter was shooting it and I looked around the side of the barrier and she was trying the one handed stance. Doing quite well with it.

I can perhaps see a 1911 in 9mm for those who don't reload and need something cheaper to shoot with. It somehow seems wrong, but I do understand it.

Most of the other calibers just have me wondering why.

But hey, each to his own.

With the current prices, components alone for the .45 cost as much as
WWB in 9mm. Then you add in the time, etc.

A 4" aluminium frame 1911 in 9mm, shoots with a perceived recoil that is
almost the same as a 5" all steel 1911 in .45ACP. A buddy of mine didn't
believe that until one day at the range I had my 9mm to plink with and he
tried both. It was funny to watch him with his jaw hanging open.

Wish it was a long slide. Cannot justify a 10mm I cannot hunt with. In my state I need a 5 1/2" barrel to hunt with any pistol. Which is why I have a glock 40. No one makes an affordable longslide 1911 10mm. Was hoping Ruger would fill that spot. Of course I could buy one of these and next week they will come out with the longslide. That's what happened with my commander length SR1911. Wanted a light weight but got sick of waiting so I bought the standard. Next day Ruger announced the lightweight.

Well, I load .45. I spend about $10 per hundred on bullets. $3 on primers and another $2 on powder. That ends up about $7.50 per box of 50, or $15 per 100. That's cheaper than any WWB that I have seen on the shelf. I could shave over a buck a box of 50 by using cast.

Now, if you insist on using jacketed, then the numbers change. I find that coated is clean, accurate and definitely cheaper than jacketed.

Just got the news. I load for 10mm. I am deep in with the Glock models in 10mm. I have been considering a 1911 in 10MM and was looking at a Colt last week. I think this is great news and and will be looking for some reviews. Looking forward to getting my hands on one so I can inspect. What will be different from a 45 ACP? Barrel, main spring and Magazine? I think the SR1911 is a proven product. They have had some issues, (front sight breaking) and other minor issues. Ruger stands by their products very well. My recent SR1911 commander in 9mm is outstanding. I think that this is a future purchase for sure.

Ol' Jeff got some pics of the 2011 45ACP SR1911 review mixed up in the review page for the 10mm. The intent of the barrel design is not mentioned, although a technical design review is not what I've come to expect... Still a hunting-worthy 10mm was hoped for. I haven't heard of any longslide plans yet, although it is only a programming change (slide/barrel/spring) away.

Sure wish Ruger design engineers would explore a linkless recoil-barrel system for high-pressure cartridges!

- Looks nice in stainless. The black barrel is kind of neat.
- Rubber grips, On a gun that is over 1K$?
...speaking of that...
- How come its over 1000$ MSRP? One of the things that makes the regular SR1911 attractive is the price. If the 10mm version is close to 1000$....There are other options out there.
- Chamber Support? No data available. Anyone out there have pictures?
- Adjustable rear sight - kind of meh - not my thing.
- Then again, I like the Adjustable rear sight better than those Novaks on the regular SR1911. (I Dont like Ski-jump profile rear sights)
- Bushing-less barrel/slide and Full length guide rod..., again, meh. Is there any real benefit to this?

I suppose I could set one up with the necessary goodies to make it right....but after spending ~1000$ on the gun, the idea of adding a bunch of aftermarket bits isnt so appealing.

For a long time I wanted Ruger to make a 10mm, now I'm kind of underwhelmed. I guess I expected too much.

I carry an SR1911 .45ACP. I practice with a 9MM 1911. My Grand daughter shoots a 9 and
you do not want to get on her bad side. She out shoots me. My wife shoots a .380, and
carries it. I would not want to be on the receiving end of either of them. Forgive me for saying so,
but you sound like a caliber snob!

I could see picking one up to play with. I already have Colts and DWs in 10mm. It is a nice round if you reload. You can load it up or down.

I will take that as a compliment.

I don't feel like this about other platforms, just 1911s. Like I said, though, to each his own. If someone wants a 1911 in 32.5 magnum Wixley short, have at it.

I just am a little of a traditionalist when it comes to this platform. And I am new to it myself. I initially started looking at 9mm 1911s, but somehow it didn't seem to feel right, and I ended up with a .45.

Most of what I say on the matter is tongue in cheek.

For $750 that is a heckuva deal if the gun is as nice as my sr1911 in .45. I have a RIA in 10mm and think it is a great round.

I'm with Clovis hound on this one. I never saw a need for a 1911 in anything other than .45acp. I like having a box of magazines that work in all my 1911's. I'm glad those who want something else can get what they want, but .45 for me.

10mm in a 1911? As others pointed out, it should be a long slide. But if I were going handgun hunting, it would be with a revolver or a Contender.

I don't have any 10mm pistols but the Glock 40- 6 inch 10mm looks interesting.
