Glock 36 which is a single stack .45 6 plus 1 compact about 60 percent of the time and a Ruger LCP other times depending on
how I'm dressed or where I'm going.

Over two years ago I started the post on your favorite full-size semiautomatic. I was actually surprised at how many indicated the 1911. However two things indicate things have changed.
One is a high number of people complain about how heavy they are. And, secondly there is a whole new bunch of new guns in the industry that revolves around the idea that people want lighter guns with a higher capacity than the standard revolver.
Also, every indication is that very few people actually carry on their person full time. Many more keep a gun in their vehicle, obviously unavailable to them in an emergency.

Personally if I'm not in bed my gun is on my person, even in my house. I carry full time OWB in a 3:00 position. The gun I carry is a Taurus G3c which comes with 3 mags that are 12+1. The mag grip is long enough that the little finger just fits. It has 2nd strike capability, and allows for dry firing. Mine has been extremely reliable.

The question is what about you? How much of the time do you carry and what do you carry?

There is more crime going on in our country than anytime in history. Many more violent criminals, drug related criminals are actively involved in what's going on. All of which creates an important distraction from every thing else that's going on.
I'm not sure I buy that there is more crime than anytime in history. In my opinion, the internet magnifies drama.

I comfortably carry a CZ 75 Compact, 9MM DA/SA, with 15+1 onboard and another 15 round magazine. This pistol fits my hand perfectly with its hand-filling Coke-bottle shaped grip and the perfect trigger reach making it extremely accurate to shoot. I am in the large capacity camp.
Not my EDC but in the rotation.

When I am not at work.......

Outside/inside the house is a SAR B6 full size (CZ75b clone), and if one of those are not on my hip.....one of the P series 89 or 95's all in 9mm. And if I have the need for really deeper concealment/hiding.....a SP101 usually, or my old GP100 Wiley Clapp; both in 357 Mag.

As has been said previously, a well made holster and belt will make large frames easier to carry well, and that may translate into easier concealment. And human frame size does help in that regard also.... ;)

EDC is a Glock 27 modified to 357 SIG. I get 1.5-2.0" groups at 7 & 10 yards. Quick runs out the door, going to the neighbors, etc.: Glock 43 in 9MM. Bedside: Glock 22 converted to 357 Sig. Woods walking: Glock 20 or 29SF in 10mm or my Ruger OM Blackhawk in 45 Colt. Glock 29 or Python in desk drawer (also a Colt 25 Pocket in there "just in case!"

That is 100% totally wrong by any measure. Go look up some FBI crime statistics before you say things like that.

I guess it depends what news source, chronicle or publication a person chooses to read or listen to, professing the crime rate is either better or worse than other times. Statistics are severely spun, as necessary.

From what I see, it is rough out there. I will prepare and act accordingly. I carry 99% of the time. The 1% exception is during air travel and when in the hospital. Many hospitals here have metal detectors, and will not allow entry if they detect a gun or a knife.

Now, back to the question, "what full size gun do I carry"?

When I am carrying a full size semi auto pistol, the SIG 226 has become my favorite. Originally I carried a 226 in .40. I foolishly sold it, then missed it. I've only been able to replace it with a 9mm, and with my preferred E2 gripframe, the Ca compliant version is the only one available. A 10-round magazine is easily replaced with a higher capacity magazine. But what I didn't know about the Ca version, is the mag disconnect and loaded chamber indicator. So I am again shopping...

And when I'm carrying a revolver, it could be a Security Six 2-3/4", or a Sheriffs length New Vaquero in .45ACP. If actually hunting, it will be a Blackhawk or Super, or L or N frame Smith.

And all the above withstanding...
I find myself in social situations carrying a trashy little Ruger throw away polymer pistol, most often.

So would you agree that a 357sig hurling a Lehigh XP over 2,000fps would punch a bear skull nicely?

Since I'm no longer 'working', I have given some thought to shifting back to a 'full sized' carry pistol. Then I said to myself 'Nah, if I feel I need more than the G2C, I'll just stay at home.:)
Now that I'm retired I don't voluntarily wear pants and boots. Cargo Pocket Carry is how I like to roll. No wardrobe discipline necessary. If I know I'll be wandering around outside and keeping a jacket on I might throw on a shoulder rig. Especially if I'm outside working during Deer Season.

I've seen 44 mag bullets deflect on a wild pig's skull which is built similarly to a bear's. I wouldn't trust a head shot except up through the nasal passage into the brain or into the area behind the ear (however, I did have 180 gr 357 Mags fail to penetrate a medium sized sow when shot behind the ear).
