Bought a brand new SP101 22 LR when they first came out. Horrible trigger. My SP101 357 was much better. I sold the SP101 22 LR. I would much rather shoot a Single Six.
I own one and love it. I hardly ever use the 357 cylinder. For range fun the jacked 9mm 115 gr is great. Its accurate to 15 yds which is good enough for me.
Enjoy

I bought one in my area for $549.00 new. As far as the double action trigger. The only revolver I have found with a good double trigger is a S&W model 17 or 18. Never tried a Colt so I can't comment on their revolver. The SP101 is a well made revolver. The trigger can be improved. I bought the...
+1 on this. For self defense a person needs a smooth double action pull. Too many shooters put lighter springs in a revolver instead of smoothing the internal trigger parts. Most trigger action problems are a result of excessive fiction.

Sorry about your GP100. The GP100 is about the strongest mid frame revolver going. But shooting the 125 gr "flame thrower" will pound any revolver to death and will erode the forcing cone on the inner edges and cause the crack at 6 oclock.
Here is a picture of a GP100 with a cracked forcing...
Congrats on your Blackhawk. I have a convertable 357/9mm too. I love it. Best all around revolver I have. I have a GP100 too but if I had my choice between the two for a first purchase it would be the Blackhawk.
You can always get a GP100 later like I did.

Welcome to the forum and congrats on your new GP100. I just bought a new 4 inch stainless steel one about a month ago. Actually the double action trigger is good. Not quite as good as a S&W but more than serviceable.
Any good quality 38 special round will worth fine with your GP100.
My favorite...
Hi,
Your not going to find a better revolver that won't cost a fortune than a Blackhawk 357/9mm revolver. They are meant to be the perfect all around revolver. Yes, you will give up some accurately in the 9mm mode, but not that much. I have one and its a joy to shoot. From full power 357 magnums...
For me the all around 357 magnum I like is the one I have owned the longest my Police Service Six bought in 1985. Feels and handles like a S&W model 19 only stronger. Going to a large medium frame 357 magnum like the GP100 or S&W 686 is a good choice but they are heavier and if you plan to...
Hi, I have a question. Are the Remingtons you purchased say Golden Sabers? If the answer is yes then don't worry. This is a medium power round and won't hurt a Security Six or S&W 66.
I you bought the Remington 125s that have a velocity of 1400, then you have the full power rounds. A part number...
Like others have said, flamecutting or gas cutting is self limiting. Loading light grain round with slow burning powders will increase flamecutting to a point. Then mostly likely you won't notice anymore.
I would pay attention more to your forcing cone. Shooting the 125 gr "flame throwers" will...
