Leupold low rings for M77 (scope clearance)?

Thanks a lot for the info guys. I took the rifle with to a shop that keeps the low rings and there was not enough space for a 40mm scope. The rings was on promotion for a very good price, but guess I will need to pass. Thanks again for the info. Cheers Pieter

Leupold low rings for M77 (scope clearance)?

Good day, I would like to find out from the guys that have used low Leupold rings on their M77s whether there is enough clearance for a 40mm scope? Thanks Pieter

    The flat bolt shoots...

Wish there were flat bolt rifles around here as I would love to own one. Seems like you have a shooter there!

    Tang Safety accuracy

I have yet to come across a bad one. But there are way more US made firearms and examples where you are. Below is a few targets shot with different M77 tang safety rifles in different cal. The ones we get over here most probably have Wilson barrels which is seen as the 'crappy' ones. I do...

I need help understanding bullet drop between two bullets.

As some of the others said about barrel vibration is spot on. Here is an illustration of what happens with your rifle barrel when the bullet leaves the barrel. Pieter

M77 project trigger guard question, barrel

Here is mine that I recently gave to my brother. Tang Safety 7RM. According to approximate dates this one is suppose to have a 'crappy' Wilson barrel sourced by Ruger at the time :) Here is a five shot group with 140 NBT at 100m after I bedded and free floated the rifle. I prefer to bed the...

New to me tang safety 77.

Thanks for the kind words guys. It is interesting to see the simple things people miss on rifles that can cause inaccuracy. What I noticed on this rifle was the action bottoming out on the magazine box. There was a clear rub mark on the mag box, meaning that the rifle could not bed properly...

New to me tang safety 77.

New to me tang safety 77.

I recently bought a Ruger M77 in 7RM, I think it is an 88 model. When I first had a look at the rifle I could see that the rifling in the throat was still sharp. There was a few small dents in the stock but it looked more like a rifle that was handled indoors (like a shop or stored in a bad...

New GSR "synthetic" stock question ???

As far as the review on Gunblast it seems like a decent stock. But I would also want to know how well it is made. I am hoping that it is a proper fiberglass stock. If it is, I really hope they will use it for an all weather 77. Pieter

    No More All-Weather Hawkeye Rifles???

I would like to see Ruger produce a stainless m77 with a composite stock as they use on the scout rifle now. Seems like a high quality solid stock. Pieter

Bedding a Ruger M77 'tang safety'.

I am not by any means an expert in bedding but I guess it is easier than some might think it is. I know plenty of guys that says it is a mission to bed a Ruger action because of being square and the angled front screw. I think it helps a lot to have an extra hand available with the process. I...

    Tang Safety Timney sear modification?

Good day. I installed a Timney trigger in one of my 77 tang safety rifles. In the instructions they advise to blunt the edge of the sear. Have anyone installed one without blunting the sear edge? Can it damage the trigger if the sear is left untouched? Another question: I lost the safety...

Tang safety rings vs hawkeye rings?

I would like to get a front ring for a tang safety rifle and would like to know whether the old and new ring heights are the same? I know the front and rear rings are different heights, I just need to know whether old and new sizes are the same? Thanks Pieter

    M77 tang safety issue

Some of those 'T' s looks horrible. I have one that looks nothing like a T but you can see that it was 'engraved' and not scrathed if it makes sense :) Pieter
