For my wife: Ruger SR22 vs. Sig Mosquito

Several folks at the next bench over from me were all shooting Mosquitos. Every one had a specific preference for ammo just to get it thru an entire mag of ammo. One would only function with some pricey Eley Match ammo' another with the CCI's, and I don't recall what the 3rd one preferred...

    Replacement trigger for P345

Nope - I like mine as it is. Of course, I've got small hands & fingers, which seems to be the issue - I can see where folks with meatier digits might find the shape uncomfortable.

price check on a security six

Yep, I've got both blued and stainless in 4". When I'm gone, my estate can sell them. I suspect most Security Six owners have similar sentiment about theirs.

If Ruger brought the Old Army back

I got a 7 1/2" Stainless a while back. Seller touted it as "unfired", but quickly offered reduced price when I pointed out some wear and powder residue. Looks like the original owner used some Red Loctite to secure the nipples. It took a couple of days soaking in acetone to be able to break...

    Security-Six leather holster

When I carried my Security Six 4" stainless, it was in a Bianchi Left anded. Stamped as fitting .38/.357 S&W it fits like a glove. Got it in 1980, and it still looks good today. Never did enough rolling around in the dirt to merit a full-flap.

    New Model Blackhawk .41 Magnum

In addition to the edge of the forcing cone, take a look at the rear of the frame where the firing pin passes thru. Primers and cases impact here and will show a ring around the FP hole - either from primer metal or bluing wear. My 1980 BN 42 came in a yellow box with black end. The sticker...

PRICE CHECK: Blued Ruger Redhawk .41 Magnum, 5.5" bbl

Anybody have a favorite .41 mag load? I have brass and some Berry's plated bullets, but haven't been able to get my hands on a can of Unique to make up my favorite load.

Ruger Old Army (5.5 Inch Barrel)

Got the stainless ROA a couple of years ago. Touted as 'Unfired" until I pointed out some wear and residual powder. The price dropped to where I really wanted it, and I'm glad I brought it home. Previous owner installed the nipples with red Loctite, and it was a fight to remove them. I'll...

    Porting

Long ago, gun writers instilled the ideas that if you didn't get your hand canon Magna Ported, & if you didn't shoot Super Vel ammo, you just weren't up with the state of the art shootists. Keep in mind that the writers seldom incur any out-of-pocket expenses with the stuff they write about, so...

    Decocker vs. safety

I've yet to see the Ruger 1911 up close, but consider the Colt 1911 series 80 and also the Taurus PT 1911 - both have firing pin blocks, and maybe someone with a Ruger 1911 in hand can comment on whether it emulates the Series 80 or not. I'm also not familiar with the LCP. but perhaps it has...

    Powder turned to Red dust

Whether it's old powder, or your old cat, when it turns to dust, it's time to move on to newer stock.

    Do you use copper solvent?

I have large bars of lead that were originally buried for use as a grounding rods for some electrical utility use. I simply hang them over the edge of a low stool & heat the end with a propane torch, I melt it into either the hot lead pot for immediate use, or into an ingot mould to use...

    Do you use copper solvent?

For decades, I've used commercial floor stripping ammonia, Butches, Sweets, Copper Cutter, and I'm sure a couple of others, of which names I've long forgotten. All work to a degree, and all that contain ammonia can damage blue & wood finishes. A few years ago someone suggested Outer's Foaming...

What to do with 30-40 year old 16 ga shotgun shells

Just because it's old, doesn't mean that the ammo is no longer serviceable. I have several crates of late 1930's era 8mm Mauser ammo that performs as well as when brand new. Of course, it is stored in hermetically-sealed crates until I open it up to shoot. As already mentioned, ammo quality...

What ever happened to the .45 GAP?

Just one more compelling reason to avoid the GAP.
