Is there a book similar to a Kuhnhausen manual covering the MK IV pistol? I've seen one or two but they're older books and only have MK I and MK II models. I'm sure many things are the same but I'd like current up to date info.

That appears to be the best book I have seen. I looked hard a few years back. Would really love a detailed tune up guide. Although at this point it may be too late.

Leaves Many Absolutely Offended??;)

Familiar with the phrase, might have gotten it with IHNDITH, but shortened version bypassed me. Clear now of course. I ordered that one and 3 more of the guides for others of my Rugers.

I hope the manuals you ordered work for you.

However,, you asked for; " Is there a book similar to a Kuhnhausen manual covering the MK IV pistol?"

Those manuals will not come anywhere close to the Kuhnhausen manuals.

That was the reason for my response.

Yes, and I agree. But I figure they are better than nothing. And I'm sure already exceed my limited skill set. I've ordered the Volquartsen competition kit for it. I've got in my mind I can install it. A Kuhnhausen manual would be most likely to make that happen. I'm sure I'll receive it, look at it all, and roll my eyes at my thinking this. But I get some new books! So it's a win regardless!

Unlike a 1911, the only thing a Ruger needs for superb accuracy is a better trigger, and the drop in options are so good that going through a Kuhnhausen-like trigger job is a little pointless. And no real reliability tuning needed, either.

I have one of the old Gun Digest disassembly books that works very well for detailed tear down, and can't see needing much more than that.

I wasn't thinking of doing a detailed trigger job, by any stretch of the imagination, just a really good illustrated how to take it down far enough and then how to swap in extractor or a whatever and get it properly put back together. I'm actually pretty good at take apart, it's the put together where I usually hit lots of speed bumps, big speed bumps. Curbs most people call them.

All true, but there was a time when VQ was either non existent, or unknown. Add to that silhouette didn’t allow aftermarket parts and I learned how to tune MK triggers the old fashioned way.

Hahaha, oooookkkk. Watched about 10-11 minutes of the video, a lot of the disassembly. He talks like there's nothing to any of it. And maybe there isn't to those with varied experience doing similar things. But it's obvious I won't be doing all that stuff.

But I did learn useful stuff. VQ will install the kit for you. I knew that already. Learned from the video the "gun" is the upper part as that's where the S/N is found. And that part isn't needed to install the kit. So in theory I can take it off and send the lower to them and they can send it back to me as it's not a "gun". I'll have to contact them to discuss/verify.

It is the truth. Just like how most rifles the upper is the receiver (except the AR15). So you can ship the grip frame any which way you want.
