I bought a brand new MK IV lite a few months back , got my suppressor in and went to shoot my new set up.... My brand new out of box MK IV will not come off of safe. dealer says he cant tae it back cause I pushed the take down button . The saftey moves when open but will not when closed. I opened it and it looks like the safety and release button hit each other ..... Not sure if I am explaining this right but I would like to shoot the gun but cant beause safety will not move to fire position....Anyone else have some issue like this....

Send it back to Ruger and have them make it right and proper.
And, then also find yourself another firearms dealer. That's an incredibly lame reasoning for not taking a gun back, I've seen it demonstrated as a selling point for the Mk IV a number of times at local gun shops around here...🙄

I don't have a mk4 any more, but I have a hunch.

Earlier mark pistols need the safety off and the hammer uncocked for dis and reassembly. The mk4 needs to have the hammer cocked and the safety on. So try this...

Remove the upper and take the safety off. Push the hammer fully back to the cocked position. Put the safety on and reinstall the upper. The safety should now be able to move to the fire position. If it still can't, you need to have Ruger see what's wrong.

Try TestEngineer's suggestion.

If that doesn't work,, then a polite call to Ruger will get you a return label & they will fix whatever it may be.
