After several years of sitting stagnant I finally finished up the new man cave and mounted up the Dillon 550. Spent a bunch of time remembering how it worked and fine tuning it again. I was having problems with the primer feed system and just could not make it work. Frustrated I finally called Dillon only to be put on hold in their system at #34. While I waited and the number came down I started reading their forum. Some questions are answered by employees and some by fellow loaders. I read about my problem so figured I would give it a try myself since I was still #17 and waiting while about 30 minutes had passed.

I went back out to the man cave and did what was suggested. The problem seemed to be the rod that hits the 2 rollers is supposed to slide in and out of the bracket at the top. Mine would function correctly for about 3 cycles then would get stuck in the out position causing it to also hang up the primer slide in the out position. The forum suggested taking some sand paper to the end of the rod then lightly greasing it before poking it back in the hole. This still did not fix the problem. I had a friend bring over the rod off his machine and found that mine must have been slightly bent because side by side there is about 1/8" difference in them. When we put his rod on the machine, I was up and running like a champ--- I quickly cranked out a box of 44mag in 8 minutes (remember I an rusty  ).

So my friend left me with his rod on loan, but it is obvious I need mine replaced. Monday I called several time to see if I could get through. I called 3 random times throughout the day and was #19, then #31, then #24. I don't have time to sit and listed to the music so hung up each time. So I decided to try e-mailing them. The info says they are swamped but will get back to me in around 2 weeks. Oh great---another long wait.

Well surprise-surprise. :o Tuesday night I get a return e-mail that was totaly unexpected---figured I was going to wait a week then try calling again. Their e-mail says to please send my address and they will get me a rod in the mail today at no expense to me. They don't even want the old one back.

I know some of you have had problems but this has always been the norm with Dillon for as long as I have dealt with them (since the 80's). Just thought I would pass along a big pat on the back for Dillon and their NO BS customer service.

Thank You again Dillon. :D

gotta love their CS.......I had an issue with the plastic primer holder inside the feed tube......turned out to be user error, had 3 new pieces to my door the next day (I live in the next town).

Due to all the demands in the last year, Dillon as well as most GOOD businesses, they are VERY busy.
But their NO BS warranty is what I judge other companies by.

....... and they not only sent the rod but the block that it goes into at the top of the primer feed tube.

got a similar issue but I think it is the primer bar itself, they are sending out a new bar and I only spent 10 min total time on the phone.........great customer service.

I finally got my Dillon "problem" fixed after being frustrated for almost 2 years. Sent the whole press back for a refurb. Cost me $30 to return it but I did get it back within 3 weeks with a full tune up and new frame(the broken frame was the main reason it went back).
At this point, I've loaded about 5000 9mm with only a few bobbles-most related to primer misfeeds. This is a big improvement over the 3-5 per hundred primer misfeeds before the refurb.

I have found that providing a mailing address with your initial email request for parts will speed up the process.
