anyone ever used one of the ghost ring backup sights for their ruger 77. I'm looking for one that is easy to take on and off to swap between scope and sight
The XS is screwed on and requires the receiver to be drilled and tapped. The NECG just attaches to the rear ring base, and is easily installed and removed.
Just trim the back portion off of a Ruger to Weaver adapter, Trim the sides of the Weaver mounting sides of the XS Low Weaver back-up sight off. Lap the XS sight over the top of the adapter, drill and tap one or two 4-40 counter sunk holes to attach the two and assemble. The handier you are with a set of micrometer calipers and files, you are, the better the finished sight will look.
